Danniverke Birthday

Submitted by TiM on

We drove down to Danniverke yesterday for Wendy's 65th Birthday Party!  Though Theo was sure that Wendy's name was Gwendy. The drive down was pretty uneventful, a few dickheads who enjoy tailgating really closely, but mostly it was just Holly following us down with Joseph and Isla.  They've JUST arrived back from Fiji, so bonus points for then driving all the way to Danniverke the next day.

Before we drove down though, Saturday morning was Theo's swim class and he was a champion again.  He's gone from being scared of putting his head under water to happily being pushed all the way to the bottom of the pool, picking up a toy then bobbing back up again.  Or monkeying along the side of the pool, then letting go, turning around in the water and then coming back up and grabbing onto me.  Or the other way around, letting go of...

Trip to Wellington

Submitted by TiM on

Went to Wellington yesterday for my Annual Review.  Went pretty good really, I was a bit nervous about it thinking a few things might not go that well but overall it did.  I wasn't worried I would get bad performance review, just a few other things I wanted to discuss.  But it turns out they were thinking about these already etc, so it was good.

Was a pretty wet miserable day otherwise, didn't do much just hung out in the office.  Managed to take Liviu a huge bag of Feijoas which is good.

And I also managed just now to fix the pathauto issue I was having, turned out the save and edit module was causing it to fail, so I removed that module and problem solved.

The Sick Files

Submitted by TiM on

What a rough weekend it was. Mother's Day on Sunday but it really wasn't much of a day for anyone, what with Beth being really sick, Sarah being average and I was pretty miserable myself. Friday Beth went to swimming and was OK, but Friday evening when she was picked up she had quite a red face and later that evening complained about being unwell. Friday night was a very rough night, I think that Beth woke up about 8 times or so, 4 of those involving vomiting. She's so good now though, she knows she's going to be sick and asks for a bucket. She's almost proud to tell us "I did a spew"

Saturday we didn't do much, I took Theo to swimming because he was OK. I almost didn't go because I was feeling so average but I thought it'd be pretty unfair to the little fella...

Wet Weekend, Lookout, Icecreams, Legos

Submitted by TiM on

Pretty miserable weekend just gone, looks like Winter is really starting to set in.  Auckland had floods and roads closed and all those sorts of fun things.  Theo had a big day in Amici on Friday, Sarah said that on Friday morning he was saying he didn't want to go to Amici he wanted to go back to Vita and he wanted to take Big Bae with him.  Oh dear.  I think it's just a bit harder for him, with so much more to do and the ratio of kids is about 1 teacher to 8 vs Vita where it was 1:4.

Saturday morning I made them pancakes as promised, it's become a real thing now.  They ask if it's the weekend yet and if the answer is yes then pancakes are demanded.  I don't mind, I've gotten pretty quick at making them now, I can have them whipped up...

ANZAC Day

Submitted by TiM on

We had a nice quiet day on ANZAC Day.  On Tuesday night Beth has expressed a desire to go to ANZAC Day, even though she didn't really know what she was asking.  But we rang Peter and Mary who were going and they said yes, they'd take Beth with them to the 9am service.  Neither Sarah nor myself felt like getting up at 5am for the dawn service and I'm not sure Beth would have either (Sorry, ANZACs)

Wednesday morning I got up and made us all pancakes, then got Beth all dressed and ready and shipped her off when Grandma and Grandad arrived.  Theo and I got all dressed up and went for a nice walk around Jervoistown to look at the sheep and feed the horse and just generally have fun.  Still trying to teach him a bit more about road safety because he seems to just have...

Beth's First Joke

Submitted by TiM on

Beth told us a joke tonight.  Or a trick, as she called it.  She was very interested in the knock knock and other jokes that were being told before the Bedtime Stories last Thursday night.  She laughed along at them all, even though she didn't get them.

Her joke tonight was "What does a cockroach do when it gets up to the top of your head" "It does some poos and runs back down again!"

Turns out that Elizabeth at Kindergarten told them that Cockroaches leave poos on the floor as they crawl across, so that was Beth adaptation of...

Wardini, Graduation, Smoke Alarms, Legos

As usual it's been two weeks since I last wrote in my diary and lots has been going on so I better try to remember it all!  First of all on Friday it was Theo's last day in Vita, he's now in Amichi full time, the big kids room at Kindy.  They had a little ceremony for him and he got a certificate.

The ceremony was pretty funny, they gave him a little cupcake with a candle in it and instead of blowing the candle out he nearly burnt his nose with it!  Poor Karen, she was mortified that she'd hurt him but he was fine, he just got a little bit of a fright because the really hot air went up his nose.  There were a few tears but then he was back on track and everyone got a cupcuke.  It was very cute, of course he didn't really have...

Something's Woggling My Peaner

Submitted by TiM on

Had a good weekend with the family!  Saturday Theo and I went to swimming, he was a bit uncertain about it again (mostly putting his head under) because he hadn't been for ~3 weeks so was a bit unsure/unwilling to do it.  But after a bit of convincing and some practise he got the hang of it again towards the end of the lesson.  Once we'd been swimming we came home, topped up the sold out Feijoas and then headed out to the Taradale Firestation Open Day!

We thought they'd love it and they did really, but mostly they were more excited by the trampoline and the seesaw out the back of the fire station than they were by the various cool things they had on display. It was a great open day though, there was a demo of a kitchen fire, we sat Beth and Theo up in the...

Theo's Motorbike

Submitted by TiM on

Theo is really getting into his motorbike, as is Beth.  They both love driving it now, back when we got it for his 2nd Birthday he didn't really get it at all.  But now he's really good, driving it forwards and backwards, knowing how to steer it fairly well.  It's really funny watching him reverse, he looks behind him and has almost figured out that turning the wheel the other way is what's required when driving in reverse.

I took them out the front last night and put some obstacles down on the drive for them to zoom around, they...

Easter

Submitted by TiM on

What a busy 4 days of Easter it was!  Mostly it seemed like I was just collecting Feijoa's off the ground and putting them in bags.  It was impossible to keep up with demand, I'd put out bags and bags and they'd keep going and going.  I even put out a few pumpkins and sold most of those too, I guess when you're selling 10kg of pumpkin for $2 it's a bargain that's hard for people to walk past.

Friday Rusty came to visit for the weekend, everyone was very excited to have him here for a while.  Theo and Beth helped me collect up Feijoa's and had fun helping me weigh and bag them, then carrying out the big sign to the front of the house.  Friday night we took Rusty for a walk around the block, stopping to look at lots of things and generally having a nice...
