Legless

Submitted by TiM on

Hi groovers, hope you are doing well and your legs haven't fallen off like mine and Sarah's wanted to do this morning.

As you should know (You do read this site religiously, right?) Sarah and I went in the 10km Auckland Marathon yesterday. This ment having to get out of bed at 6:30am on a Sunday morning, something neither of us is particulary familar with. Even more sadly for us though it included the pre-race Run around trying to figure out what the hell is going on Marathon which we estimated was about a 3km event.

We were tired before the start and also we were in the last few people to cross the start line. We didn't really care though, it was a beautiful sunny day and our walk along the Auckland waterfront was really nice, even if there was a lack and drink stands and the frikkin Milo's beat us! Those cows.

After the race was over we then competed in the 2004 Walk back to the car which was parked ages away, thanks Tim event, thus completing another 1 and a half kms. On the way back though we went into Subway and rewarded our hard efforts with a 6 inch Sub each and a Subway Salad to share. The Subway Salad was suprisingly good, very tasty and healthy as well.

Once we got back to Sarah's place we sat on the deck for a couple of hours with Oscar, watching him chirp and flap around, generally being very happy with himself. He even danced up and down with my head, until he decided to try and bite my nose. Rusty (Cat) meanwhile loved the whole show, always trying to find a way to pounce on poor Oscardoo, we were always too quick though and squirted her with water to keep her at bay.

Then at Sarah's request we all (Me Sarah and her two flatmates Kelly and Andrea) trooped back down to the park where the race had finished, as there were some cool bands playing. To our dismay, when we got there (at 4:30pm) the bands had long since finished and everyone was packing up.
"Nevermind!" we said, we'll just pretend we've come here for a picnic! So we sat ourselves down on the rug and started to munch our snacks. This was until they decided to start empyting the port-a-loos about 100 metres upwind from us. At this point we admitted defeat and gave up, instead opting to walk around Victoria Park Markets for a little while, then back home.

Not much to report from Saturday, I went out to the SPCA to look after the doggies. There was this most beautiful Cocker Spanial out there, everyone wanted to pat him and take him for a walk. He was one of those dogs that had no trouble getting a hoem though, before I even got a chance to talk him for a walk he was picked up by his new owner. It's just a shame this doesn't happen to so many of the other equally nice but not so attractive looking dogs.

That's it squish-heads!

Tim
