Sarah's sister Holly came up to Auckland for the weekend to go car shopping. At 10:30am she was buzzing on Sarah's apartment door asking to be let in. Damnit, I was trying to get some sleep! Though I guess 10:30am isn't really a resepectable time to be sleeping in on the weekend... Anyway I dragged myself out of bed (proudly wearing my "We Like Tha Moon" T-Shirt which arrived on Friday!) and poured some coffee down my throat, ready to go and assult all the used car dealers wanting to sell Holly dodgy rust buckets.
The 2 of us piled into Sarah's car (this is the problem with an MR2. It's a two seater and that's it) and drove off down towards Penrose, where the lower end of the car market is. We looked at a couple of cars in Greenlane but there was nothing that really interested Holly, so we drove down until we went past Genuine Vehicle Imports which looked rather promising.
We went in there and had a talk to Craig, obviously the master of sleeze and wankness, he walked us around the caryard out the back. Holly spotted a Suburu that she liked the look of, despite it's need of bodywork. Craig instantly went to work, talking up all the good features of it, downplaying the fact the body was in shit condition. I was biting my tounge the whole time because I wasn't the one buying the car. Holly decided she wanted to take it for a test drive so ol' Craig got all really excited now. Off we went in the car, a quick fang down the motorway and back. Craig telling us we shouldn't play with the stereo "while we driving, we'll look at it when we get back" which to me was code for "it doesn't work, I hope you don't ask when we get back"
Once we got back Holly still wasn't too sure if she wanted the car or not, Craig walked us inside though and into his magical little office, ready to sign her up. Sarah seeing that her sister wasn't too sure asked for time out, much to Craig's annoyance. Sarah talked to her and she decided that while it wasn't too bad a car, it wasn't her perfect car she was after and she was going to say no. So she went back in and talked to Craig (Sarah and I waited outside), then she came and told us what Craig had said to her. Which no doubt you can guess from the title of this story, he told her she was making the worst decision of her life!! What a wanker! So we left, happy knowing we'd given that chump no money at all.
We drove around a few more places, test drove another car and then ended up at Turners Auctions. They had the same car Craig was trying to sell us, in much better condition and for a about $1000 less that what he was selling it for. So, Auckland people, steer very clear of these wankers.
After all the fun of car shopping I had to go home to calm down. Saturday night I didn't do much, drank beers and played PlayStation with my flatmate Craig.
That's about all the interesting stuff I have to tell you I think, yesterday I didn't really do much. Went to the Squash open day only to realise it wasn't the club over the road having the open day, but one down in Devonport. Whoopsie.
Oh yes and I hate SonyEricsson too, they have changed their phones so that soon the software and tools I have to flashing them won't work. I can't blame them though, lots of people have been flashing their phones and killing them (it's their own fault though)
Alas, I suspect my free beer will soon be no more.
Happy Easter and stuff.
