Nothing really to say today, so I'm just going to throw together a pile of babble and call that an entry. Got a problem with that? Well, you can always go somewhere else much more interesting than here. It's not like the entries are usually very high quality or anything anyway.
Our shower is getting fixed today. Yaaaa. It's really crappy at the moment, you get plenty of water pressure as long as you don't want hot water with it. Soon as you crank up the hot water it goes all crappy and drippy and sad. Very annoying. But the repair man is there at the moment Hera says, so when I get home tonight I can have a real shower. Haven't had one of those in a while.
It's stink weather in Auckland still. I didn't get much sleep last night cause something right outside my window was dripping, but really loudly, going "plop, plop plop" all night. I was going to get out of bed and investigate, but everytime I thought about doing that it started to piss with rain harder, so I'd stay in bed instead. Much warmer.
I left my car parked over here at Takapuna last night, cause I went into town with the boss for a couple of drinks at the loaded hog. And a nice meal too. So I'm wondering if it's still going to be there parked on the side of the road. It probably got stolen last night. Oh, how happy that would make me. I don't think it's insured anymore, but I wouldn't really care anyway.
Congrats once again to Rob and Denny and their new boy Miley!
I've got the webcam here at work, but I can't get it to do streaming like I used to be able to back at Queen St. It's because of the way that the network is setup over here, it's all very tied down. Even with some extreme geekboy power I still couldn't manage to fight my way around all the network blocks that are in place, so I think I'll just take it back home with me. I mean, there's not really much interesting to see anyway, here's a picture of what the cube farm looks like. It's a bit dark, but hey. It's a crappy webcam.
Lots and lots on at work at the moment. My phone has been going nuts all morning. I spent most of Monday just fending off all the "I know you were sick last week but..." calls that I got. I've managed to get rid of some of the work that landed on my plate to some of the other people, and I have just completed one of the major things I was working on this week, so I'm a happy camper. And thus taking 5 minutes timeout to write my Journal.
Today was supposed to be my last day at work for 2+ weeks, but I've managed to get my leave cancelled. I still haven't heard back from Flightcentre about getting a refund on my tickets, so I think that's my $3000 goodbye. I've had thousands of suggestions from people about "Why don't you rebook it here or there" etc etc and yea, I know. I've spoken to them about that too and they're pretty inflexible about the whole thing, so I've basically given up. Yes I know, all that money etc etc. But shit happens basically. Plus I still might get my money back yet, it's just not looking very likely.
Simon and Hera are going on holiday this Saturday for 2 weeks, going down to the South Island. They're taking Simon's car all the way down to Wellington and then getting on the ferry over to the South Island and driving around. Can you belive that I didn't even know that New Zealand was two seperate islands before I got over here? Shows how much attention I actually paid to that little country over to the side of Australia.
Still not sure when I'm going to go flat hunting over here. The fact that I can drive over and it doesn't really take that long has taken the urgency out of it. I still need a better car and a proper NZ license though, and I really don't want to be driving every morning. I guess I'll have a bit of a look around this weekend. There was a nice place listed in the paper the other week, $250 a week and it had a pool and a spa. THAT would have a been nice. Suprise suprise it was taken by the time I rang up to check it out though. I don't think the real estate market is a packed out as everyone has been telling me it is, but then again all the places I've rung have been taken by the time I've called.
God what a pile of babble. I really hope no one is reading all this. It's just a good place for me to talk about what I'm thinking. I also think I'm coming down with a cold, but I'm trying to ignore my body telling me that so maybe it'll go away. It's sucky that antibiotics don't protect against colds.
Ok, well babble over. I'm going to go and get myself some food before I pass out.
Tim
