Subject: TELSTRASATURN TO MERGE WITH CLEAR
Introduction
I have two important announcements to tell you today.
The first is to announce an agreement that we have signed with Clear Communications
to merge the two companies. Second is my departure soon from the Company and the
appointment our new CEO, Rosemary Howard.
I will be visiting all the TelstraSaturn offices beginning with Auckland tomorrow,
Wellington on Monday and Christchurch on Tuesday to talk about this.
A New Company
Today is a significant day for telecommunications in New Zealand. TelstraSaturn has
bought CLEAR Communications Ltd, subject to regulatory approvals. This will see the
emergence of a stronger and more competitive player in the NZ market, bringing
together the skills of the people here at TelstraSaturn and at CLEAR. This is a
merger in every sense of the word and will be an exciting, challenging time for
people within both companies.
The communication process around the merger then takes the following steps:
- There will be briefings for all staff over the next three days. More briefings
will be held over the next couple of weeks.
- More details can be also be found on the Matrix under the heading TSL/CLEAR Merger.
- An email address has been set up to take questions and provide feedback at
questions@telstrasaturn.co.nz. There will be updates and responses to feedback at
least once a week.
If you have any queries please talk with your manager or team leader in the first
instance.
A New CEO for the New Company
I would like to introduce Rosemary Howard to you who will drive the merger process
and lead the new Company. It is a significant and exciting challenge and I am sure
that you will give her all the support she needs to meet it head-on. I will be
travelling the country with Rosemary over the next few days to introduce her.
