WOF Time

The warranty for my lovely Dell laptop I bought in the UK 4 years ago now runs out in 4 days time. So knowing that the screen was on the way out, as was the keyboard, I rang up and logged a fault. I didn't really expect them to replace the keyboard considering it was just wear and tear, but the screen was really faulty. The guy who answered the phone though didn't ask any questions and said they'd replace the keyboard as well.

So I'm typing this on my nicely refitted laptop! It's 4 years old but still going strong, I hope that it lasts another 4 years. A few years ago, a laptop 4 years old would have been a dinosaur but not these days. I mean it's obviously not the fastest laptop anymore, but it still does most things perfectly. I don't want a new one anyway, I'm still really happy with it!

I'm working at home today, I need to take the car down at 11am to get a Warrant of Fitness for it. I hope it's not an expensive exercise this time around. At least now we have the scooter so it's not a right pain in the arse exercise.

We had a good weekend, Saturday morning I was a bit hungover after Julie's leaving do Friday night. Julie has been a great college at work and will be missed, but at least we made her last day fun. I even baked her a chocolate cake and we had a gathering around our pods just to say goodbye. Most people that leave these days just slink out the door on their last day, never to be seen again which I always think must suck a little bit for them, that no one even cared enough to organise a little goodbye for them. Anyway we had a great time Friday night, especially as it was also a 50% project completion party so lots of people turned up (for the free drinks)

Saturday we did (quite a bit) of shopping over the North Shore, getting some new clothes and bit and pieces for the house. Plus we also stopped in to look at the pet store (something we don't do so much now we have Tui), where they had goats in display. We thought about buying a goat but decided it probably wasn't a wise idea.

Sunday we went over to Sarah's workmates house, M & R. They're moving out of their Westmere home and had some garden utensils they didn't want, so we are going to look after them for an extended period of time for them. This means I get a garden fork and few other bits and pieces which was very kind of them. Then we came home and mowed the lawns, plus I bottled my Lager Beer (it's been lagering for 6+ weeks) and my 2nd attempt at a Wheat Beer.

Then we sat down to watch Australia vs South African and then the All Blacks v Argentina. I can't believe that Australia won, but we did, much to the annoyance of everyone at work yesterday. The All Blacks won as well, setting the stage for an exciting match this weekend (Aussie vs NZ)

It's school holidays for the next two weeks. Which means Tony (my boss) is away. With him and Julie not being around, it means a lot of stuff has to rest on my shoulders. Oh no!

The insulation has made a nice difference, it's warmer inside now than it is outside, where as it usually just used to match the outside temperature unless we had the heater cranking. This is a good thing!
