I can see the light!

Submitted by TiM on

Another weekend of mostly shit weather. Sunday was terrible, but it didn't really matter too much as Sarah is still feeling quite unwell and has now developed a bad cough. Off to the Dr for her today.

Saturday we dropped off some tickets to the rugby to one of Sarah's workmate's parent's apartment. They were driving down to Hamilton and were able to give tickets we had to the rugby to Kelly. So that was very kind of them. Then we found a new place to have breakfast in Mt Eden. I found a sandwich that might, almost, maybe, topple the toulouse sausage at the French Market. It's the little things that are exciting.
After breakfast we headed off to buy some graph paper and pencils to do some design work for the garden. It's the last night of our garden course tonight.

Then we ducked into Lighting Direct for a quick look and ended up buying a new light fitting for our bedroom. To say the staff were unhelpful would be a major understatement, they gave us advice that was just flat out wrong a couple of times. First they didn't understand some simple questions, then gave us bulbs they told us would fit when they didn't. Arrgh! Thankfully the manager came to help us with putting the fitting together and and spotted their mistakes, so we left with the right bits. I'd have been miffed to got home and found it was all wrong.
Anyway, we have a nice new and much brighter light in the bedroom now. Which is good because it was a bit dark in there before and the light fitting was ugly.

I then went and did the gardens, before settling in for the footie grand final. Which I've already covered so I won't mention it again except to say "We won!"

Sunday was a relaxed day. With Sarah not feeling very well we didn't do much. I made bacon and maple syrup pancakes and then we watched the rain come down for most of the afternoon. Sarah drew up the plans of the house to scale (very impressive), I helped by going out and measuring bits and pieces.

I also played with Google Picasa on my laptop. It has face recognition and it's scary good. Tell it 3 photos that are Sarah and it pretty much picked up 200 more. The same with everyone else. A cool, if a little creepy, feature.

Sarah and Tui meanwhile bonded on the couch and watched the Warriors get beaten by Manly in the Rugby League grand final.

And now it's Monday morning. It's wet, it's miserable and it's windy as all hell. I'm on the Outter Link bus, just about to pull into Newmarket and head to work.
