Backwards Ball

Submitted by TiM on

We went to see the Rugby on Saturday night with one of Sarah's workmates and his girlfriend. The tickets were pretty cheap because they wanted to get a large crowd in to test Eden Park out, making sure people could get in and out, that the buses and trains worked properly. All that sort of stuff. We were guinea pigs basically.

It was all very well organised though. We arrived a little bit late, it took us about 20 minutes to get to Eden Park from home but then we had to walk to the opposite end of the ground to get in our allocated gate. Bugger! We started to panic a little bit because we thought we'd miss the teams coming onto the ground. But we got to our seats just in time, we'd only been sitting for a few minutes before everyone came out onto the ground. I stood up and loudly and proudly (and badly) belted out the Australian National Anthem, then the whole stadium stood up and belted out the Kiwi one. Suffice to stay I was a little unnumbered.

I have no real idea what happened in the game, they threw the ball around for 30 seconds then stood around and looked at each other for 5 minutes. Then another 30 seconds of play. Suffice to say I'll never be a rugby fan. Hell we didn't even score for the first half while NZ run away with something like 20 points. Second half finally we scored a couple of tries but it nothing compared to the Kiwi's 4 odd plus a couple of penalty kicks.

So I can't proudly wave the Rugby scarf around at work today, but I will anyway because it just generally annoys people (in a good way.)

I spent a lot of yesterday being a nerd, moving everything over to the new VM host at WxC. I always get paranoid moving mailservers, there's a lot of things to bugger up and have the mailserver bounce mail. But it seems that I managed to not bugger it up, Sarah's still getting email and so am I this morning. No bounces or errors in the logs I can see.

Sarah went down to Hamilton yesterday to see Kelly while I stayed at home being nerdy. Well I also made another batch of my "famous" Ginger Beer. Which I'll be looking forward to drinking in a couple of weeks time. Tastiness!

Time to get ready for work.

Tim
