Monday Morning

Just about got killed by a driver who's unaware of the give-way-to-pedestrians rule. Revenge will be mine!
Good weekend, did a few jobs around the house. We're going to have to paint it over summer, the slap-dash job that was done to sell it is really starting to show. There's bubbles coming up, little chunks falling off all over the show. Sadly I have no idea how to paint a house, but how hard can it be right? You grab a scraper and a paintbrush and off you go, right?

Had a good week last week, nothing too exciting. We found out on Thursday about the proposed positions that will "be affected" - thankfully mine is not one of them. Tough times for some people though which sucks. We'll face some interesting challenges over the next year I reckon.

Thursday night (good timing) we had a celebration for the new network migrations that we've done. Had a great night, bit tired and emotional the next day though!

Which was OK because it was team building day! I don't think you could've planned a worse day for team building, the day after announcing a round of layoffs. Full credit to a number of people who's roles are potentially effected for showing up, I wouldn't have. It was a good day, though when I showed up they had just finished taping a colour A3 of this photo up on the board. That'll teach me for teasing the Network Operations guys at the party the night before! In the afternoon we had a Wii off, playing on the Nintendo Wii games for a bit of fun. It was quite enjoyable, our team (The Muppets!) won! Go us!

Friday night we ordered Fish and Chips, to be delivered. It's easier to get them delivered than it is to either a) Drive the car and find a park in Kingsland (impossible) or b) Drive the scooter in 3c temps. They never showed though, so we had to ring and get them reordered. Eventually they showed up, with a half confused half guilty delivery guy. Later that night the owner of the chippy rang to apologise and tell us he definitely cooked our order twice. He's not sure what happened to the first order, but he suspects that his delivery guy ate it! Funny!

Saturday morning as I've already posted I passed my basic skills test. It was very basic, that's for sure. The skills I learnt at on the CBT I did in London certainly helped though. Plus of course my scooter riding antics.

Saturday afternoon we went to SaveBarn. SaveBarn is awesome. They have millions of things I want. Generators, high pressure petrol water blasters. What a great place. Then we popped into the homebrew store and got all the ingredients for a Boags Premium. At least an attempt at one, there's still a brew in the fermenter at the moment, have to wait until that's done before I start another.

Sunday after being badgered for hours, I finally caved and agreed to go with Sarah to the rug sale! She's annoyed with how bald I look, so off to buy me a rug we went. Oh wait no it was a floor rug sale, hair rugs will be next year. We looked around all the rugs for a while but they're all too expensive for our tiny budget. Worth a look though.

Sunday afternoon I spent an hour or so digging up the tree roots from where the Yukka Trees were removed. I'm just making a bigger hole it seems. No matter how many roots I pile into the wheel barrow it seems like there's more multiplying in the ground when I'm not looking! Little buggers. The concrete bar running through the front lawn doesn't help either, I have no idea why it's there. The joys of home ownership.

And that's that! Time to get to work.
