Hello! I went out to the SPCA today. A pretty uneventful day apart from when one of the dogs was pulling on the hose which was feeding in under the door. I tried pulling on the hose, which put upwards pressure on the door. Before I knew it "Pop!", off came the door. I was left holding a large steel door with 3 excited dogs behind it wanting to come out. Thankfully one of the ladies on my shift helped me out and after a lot of laughing we managed to get the cage door back on its hinges. No ubu's managed to escape.
Our visitors left this morning, leaving us a very nice letter. They were a lovely couple, very friendly and with a great sense of humour. They were hiring a motor home to travel around New Zealand for a month. We didn't hear them leave because we were still in bed fast asleep, they left bright and early and we didn't go to bed until about 2am because we'd been to Kelly's birthday party.
We went out for coffee with them on Thursday night and they told us lots of funny stories. The best was about this mentally disabled boy who was being looked after by a woman:
She was looking after 2 boys and one needed to go to the bathroom so she told the other one to sit on the seat and not move. She took the boy to the bathroom and when she came back found the other boy still sitting on his seat but soaking wet from head to toe. She asked him what had happened but he didn't want to talk about it so she thought some other boys must have teased him and thrown water or something on him. The rest of the day was uneventful until she got a call that night from the boys mother... Wanting to know why he had a live, baby penguin in his backpack. That's right, he'd jumped in to get a penguin! Even the zoo didn't believe he had one until they went and counted!!
As I was saying, it was Kelly's (Sarah's old flatmate) 25th birthday last night. There was a big party at her place which was heaps of fun. Sarah and I made her a cake on Thursday night, a chocolate one (out of a packet but it was still really tasty) and then Sarah decorated it with hundreds of mini M&M's. It looked really cool when it was finished and it was very tasty too for a packet mix cake.
There was a complete emergency on Friday morning. The "single shot" filter for the coffee machine was blocked. No coffee would flow. I was in a state of compelte panic and had to resort to using the double shot filter instead. The double shot is usually reserved for when I first get up and need that kick in the head that you get from it. A call to the coffee machine helpline and a lot of banging, screaming and a little baking soda and it all turned out for the best. Whew.
Thank you and goodnight!
Tim
