Deployments

I'm going to have to upgrade my website soon. All the software is old and out of date. They don't even make security patches for my gallery anymore. Not really a big deal I guess because the world has moved onto Google Photos and those sorts of services, but I always did like the idea of hosting things myself. I could probably move my diary onto someone's online platform somewhere then pay $10 to never have to worry about it again. But that's no fun. And all the links in the old stories would break then. I'm just warbling on to myself, sorry dear readers.
Deployed a whole bunch of config into the network yesterday morning. Went pretty well though of course afterwards realised a mistake that I've made. Hopefully nothing too major that can be fixed. Was pretty tired and grumpy yesterday! Got a crappy call from Dad yesterday...

Last Week

Submitted by TiM on

Written on Tuesday 16th May on my Flight to Wellington:
Beth has been quite sick the last few days and it's been a bit of a nightmare for everyone, herself included. Finally today she's back at daycare. I took her to the Doctor again yesterday afternoon, he said that actually it won't be slapcheek it'll be the strepthroat that the tests came back and showed.
At least today she seems to be back to herself, she got up and was happy without a whole bunch of grizzling and all that sort of carry on. She had a massive feijoa that I picked up off the ground last night. I was going to give it too Liviu but then Sarah said that I should keep it out for her which was a great idea because it meant she was excited about eating. Which is the first time she's been excited about...

Slap my Cheeks, I weigh how much?

Again, Diary, again. I'm sorry. So, not last weekend but the weekend before we went out on Saturday night! Yes it was Mary's Birthday so Sarah organised a baby sitter and off we went. Had a good night too, though I had more to drink than I meant to! I was quite doo-lally by the end of the evening, I blame the Four Stroke beer I was drinking though I don't think it was that strong. Either way we still had good night up at the Mission Estate, followed by a brief walk down the hill before a maniac in a car (Peter) came to pick us up and drive us back to their place. We stayed for an hour or so while everyone put on old 45rpm records and danced the night away.
Sunday I was feeling decided average! We went over to Peter and Mary's for a lovely...

Anzac Day

Submitted by TiM on

We had a nice weekend, the weather wasn't too bad. Couldn't be bothered doing any Fiejoas though after most of them blew down in the cyclone the weekend before.
Saturday the kids and I drove to the pool centre to get a bunch of chemicals to stop it going green. Heaps of leaves and other crap had blown into it and it was starting to turn. The pool centre visit was pretty funny, Beth marched in and loudly introduced us "This is my little brother Theo and my name is Bethany". The pool lady then spent all her time talking and playing with them, another lady had to come and help me instead. Once home and my two assistants had helped get the pool sorted, I put Theo to bed then Beth and I went to get some breakfast.

In the afternoon we took the kids for a visit to...

Beth and the Caught House

Submitted by TiM on

Messages today from Sarah:

We came to the library
We parked outside the courthouse
Beth asked "is that the library?"
I said "no, that's the court house"
What's the court house?
Well it's where you go when you're naughty
Then I went to put money in the meter
Came back and Beth tells me
"I'm a bit worried we will get caught at the caught house"
Now she's super interested in specifically how naughty you have to be before the police come and take you to the "caught house"
"If you hit someone?"
"What if you dig up a tree...

Forcing myself to write into my diary again dear diary, sorry I am so slack but of course we've been busy. Feijoa's have been going off again, they're dropping everywhere and they're massive. We've sold heaps the last couple of days, even with a bit of rain here and there we've had enough days of sun to sell them. And they've been going like hotcakes too, I guess because we're less than half the price of the supermarkets.

Friday the 7th of April we all got in the car and drove out to Hastings to see the Lighting of Osmanthus Gardens. We'd talked to Beth about it during the week in the hope that she might get excited about it, which she seemed to be. It was really cool, the lights were very well done and both Beth and Theo seemed to enjoy it, though Theo was more interested...

Boozing on Bikes

Submitted by TiM on

Saturday just gone was Adrian's birthday and Holly organised for a bunch of us to go on one of those winery tours. So Saturday morning after getting the kids to help sell Feijoas for a while we were picked up by the taxi (thanks Grandma for looking after them) and off we went. We got our bikes and rode out to Te Awanga winery which luckily just happened to have a fundraiser on that day which meant live music! We had a couple of nice cold pints in the sun and some pizzas, before riding on to the next winery, staying there for an hour or so and then heading to Elephant Hill. Elephant Hill was very flash, but still fun. We got a call that Beth wasn't feeling well though, so Sarah and I rode our bikes back to the tour place and Peter very kindly picked us up...

Adele - "No Like" Vomiting

Submitted by TiM on

Theo has learnt a new phrase and it's "No Like". "No Like" can be applied to all manner of situations, mostly the ones that he doesn't like. Throw him around in a way he's unhappy with? "No Like". Refuse him a cracker? No Like No Like. He's pretty funny. But he's really happy he's finally figured out a way to tell us when he doesn't like something. He used to try other things like "Down" and "All Done" but he's finally figured out No Like is the winner.

Sarah flew up to Adele on Thursday afternoon. I was worried for her flying up there at ~1pm, getting into town to drop her bag off only to have to head back out to the stadium to be ready to go for the 7pm start. But she made it all perfectly, the plane wasn't delayed or anything. I picked the kids up...

Beer Appreciation Day

Submitted by TiM on

Yesterday was Beer Appreciation Day! And what a great day it was. Lots of very tasty beers to choose from, good company. I went with Tobbe, one of my workmates and a bunch of people he knows that are all beer appreciaters. There was lots of dicussion about homebrew and how best to do it and all that sort of stuff. Had a really good time, it's just a small outside area wwith about 5 beer tents, each tent usualy had under it 2-3 brewers. My local favourite, Brave Brewing was there with a tasty unfiltered IPA style beer that was very nice.

Poor Theo got bitten by a bee today! I was mowing lawns so I didn't hear, it wasn't until I stopped and Beth told me he'd been bitten that I knew. Though to be fair, I wasn't really sure I trusted her to present me with such...

7 Years! (What day did we get married again?)

Submitted by TiM on

Oh dear, two weeks without an update. Whoopsie.
Well, it was Happy Anniversary (7 years) for us last week. We were both a bit hopeless, Sarah thought it was on the Monday (the 5th, though she knew the date was the 6th) while for some reason my brain had totally malfunctioned and I thought the date itself was the 10th (Friday!) I even organised Mary to come and look after the kids on the Friday night so that Sarah and I could go out for dinner.
Which is what we did in the end anyway, we used the voucher I got for my 40th Birthday and we went to the Mission for a lovely dinner. Thanks Mary for looking after the little terrors. We didn't do a lot else exciting last weekend, it was raining a lot. In fact during the week it rained so much I got up on...
