Happy 3rd Birthday Theo

Submitted by TiM on

It's Theo's 3rd Birthday Today
Happy Birthday to our little man

He's had a good day, got up after another night sleeping through with a dry nappy. We accidentally put him to bed on Wednesday night with his undies on and he woke up without wetting through. Same again today, though he had a nappy on. He's growing up fast. They both woke up and I made pancakes for Theo's Birthday. This confused Beth because she associates pancakes with it being the weekend, but it's on Friday. The 13th!

Theo got some lovely presents, a brand new scooter, Granny knitted him a lovely jumper and gave him some Thomas the Tank Engine trains. After all the presents were done he had a bit of a ride outside on the scooter, but it was so cold that only lasted a few minutes before we had to come back inside, even though...

Work Weekend, Visiting Gwen, Guide Dog Biscuits

Submitted by TiM on

Last weekend I spent it in Auckland with my workmate Damian.  We flew up on Friday, picked up our car from the airport, found out accommodation and settled in for the evening with not much to do.  We went to GPK for dinner, then headed back for an early night.  Saturday morning we got up really early and drive to the Datacentre.  It was super amazingly foggy, I could only see 1-2m in front of me driving the car.

Good thing we had GPS because I had no idea where we were going.  It was only a 10 minute drive and we arrived at the Datacentre, gloomy place that it was.  We basically spent the day there, slowly moving circuit after circuit from the old equipment to the new equipment we'd installed.  It all seemed to go very well, we encountered a few problems here and there, but nothing we...

Theo's Drawing

Submitted by TiM on

Not what you think, Theo pulled his chest of draws over this morning!  Must have been climbing on them to get some clothes out. He's able to dress himself really well now, most mornings he does it.  I didn't realise but this morning he didn't take in his little stepstool.  So I was in the lounge stoaking up the fire when I heard CRASH BANG TINKLE TINKLE..... WAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH.

Thankfully he was OK, he managed to stand back near his bed and the bottom draw stopped them tipping over entirely.  So he's fine, but he still got a major fright, as...

Outdoor Work Weekend

Submitted by TiM on

Busy weekend, did lots of work out in the Garden.  Saturday morning Pancakes this week were ones you make by putting water in the plastic bottle and then shaking like mad.  Beth and Theo thought this was a lot of fun, I had to make sure the lid was super screwed on so it didn't leak.  They enjoyed the new pancakes, though they were really much more like what I'd call a piklet, they bubbled when you put them on the frying pan, so they obviously had self raising flour in them.  Still, very tasty even if I didn't know about the syrup and told Beth "No no the honey in the bottle is the syrup".  She was suspicious I was lying, but I flat out didn't know we had Maple Syrup in the cupboard.  They were still tasty, regardless.

After breakfast I took Theo swimming, which he was a...

Catching Up my Diary

Submitted by TiM on

Wow it's been ages again Diary.  I thought I was doing such a good job of keeping you updated, but then nearly 2 weeks go by without an update.  Alas.  Thing that we've done recently include:

We went out to the Farmer's Market a couple of weeks ago, had a nice time out there though it was quite cold in the shed.  Then from there we went to a Model Train expo that I'd seen advertised the week before when Theo and I went to World Train.  Theo had the best time at the expo, well even Beth loved it too.  Lots of lovingly made little model trains, plus a really cool one made with mechano or whatever that fancy metal lego stuff is called.  It would drive along then end up on a bridge that would slowly move the train from one side to the other, plus little roundabouts...

Poo Water / Gwen Visits / World Train

Had a good weekend with the kids and family.  Sorry Jeremy I never got around to properly calling you back, I must do that this week!  Saturday morning everyone slept in until 8am or so, well I think the kids were up a bit earlier but they seem to both be old enough so that they don't stand at the bottom of the stairs screaming murder until someone gets up.  Now they just play with each other, or their toys, or Beth sits in bed and reads a book etc until someone gets up.  So I got up out of bed at 8am and came down to make pancakes.  Weekend pancakes are a bit thing as I've probably mentioned, all week I am excited asked "Is it Saturday today?" and when it finally is Saturday there is whooping and yelling of "Pancakes, Pancakes, Yaaaah" etc.  So I made some pancakes...

Beth's Eyesight

Submitted by TiM on

Beth's has had 3 eye tests done now, two at kindy and one yesterday at the optometrist.  They have all shown that her right eye is a little bit weaker than her left (or maybe the other way?) and so there's a good chance that she will need to get glasses to help with long distance.  Not really surprising I guess, given her parents are both glasses wearers.  In fact I went to the optometrist on Monday morning myself and they said that my eyesight hasn't changed, but one of my optic nerves was a bit thinner than the others and the pressure in that eye was a bit higher.  So I had to have a peripheral vision test (just an extra $15, sir) but that turned out fine.  I don't have glaucoma just yet.

So yes, Beth has to go back next week for one final check, this time Sarah has to put...
