Up The Hill, BBv2

Submitted by TiM on

Had a good weekend, it was nice and sunny both days.  Saturday morning took Theo to swimming, he was great again.  He's so keen, loves to listen, does what he's told, tries really hard.  His googles annoyed him a few times and that upset him, but once I tightened them back up again he was super happy.  His kicking styles leaves a lot to be desired, but Jill told us that for their age all children do a really silly, totally useless kick.  In fact one of the exercises this week was to hold their legs and kick them properly for them.  Anyway, we had a great day swimming, Theo was just great again.

After swimming we did a bit of work outside, Sarah took Theo to the supermarket while Beth and I did some work outside, had a play, she helped a bit with the lawnmowing.  I did a...

Good News / Bad News

Edit: The package has landed! Changed to public.  Also it was confirmed: Mega foofoo.

I'll change this to public when the exciting news has been released, but Jeremy rang me on Wednesday to tell me that I'm going to be an Uncle in February!  Very exciting.  We even got sent a scan of Frankie the Foetus.  Mum is of course going to blow a mega foofoo when she finds out, Jeremy and Nicole have posted a scan inside of the birthday card he's sent her.  Poor Mother,  I think she'll be opening that today.  That's the good news.

The shit news...

Deb's Shed, Reading Books, Fart Pants

Theo is so farty.  Every night after a bath in the lounge it's just PRRRRRRPPPTT x 10.  Maybe the warm water relaxes him, it certainly used to a little bit when he was still toilet training and let a few poopies go in there.  EVERYONE OUT,  FLOATER!  I don't miss those days, in fact I'm not even sure those days are 100% over.  Theo woke up this morning at 5:30am DADDY DADDY DADDY.  I rushed down, wondering what the emergency might be.  Fallen out of bed?  Bad dream?  Need to go to the toilet?  "Daddy I want Big Bae Nice...

Racing Sim, A Plethora of Bethany's Words

Submitted by TiM on

Tuesday night sitting around the dinner table eating noodles.  There were thick noodles and thin noodles.  Sarah got the kids to have Noodle Races to encourage them to eat their noodles/dinner.  Bethany pops out with "Mummy, I have a *quietly* plethora... of noodles".  It was so cool! I've been teaching her that one for ages because I've always loved it.  She wasn't quite sure she used it right, but once she realised she lit up too, proud of herself.

She can also read all of the "First Reader" parts of The Three Billy Goats Gruff.  She doesn't even struggle...

This website is so ugly

Submitted by TiM on

One day I'll have to try and find a better Theme for it.  The problem with Drupal (the software this website uses) is that it's all designed for people who are website designers to take the bare bones foundations and jazz it up.  Which is all well and good, but I don't know the first thing about jazzing up CSS/HTML etc.  This theme I found is the best of a bad bunch... One day I'll have to do something better.  At least al the content is still here, that's the main thing.  I do wish I'd picked Wordpress instead of...

Happy Birthday to Me, Big Bae v2

Submitted by TiM on

The most amazing thing happened last night!  Sarah found a Big Bae on TradeMe.  She was just randomly looking and there it was, a second hand Big Bae.  BUY NOW!  So hopefully sometime this week or next, a backup Big Bae will arrive for our little Linus, just in case BB ever gets lost.  Though as Sarah points out, losing a massive blanket seems like a pretty impossible thing to have happen, especially because we're quite cautious about where we take it.  Still, it'll mean I'll sleep easily knowing we have a backup in case it is ever needed.

Had a great Birthday night out on Friday night.  We went to Brave Brewery for a few pints (as I was leaving they gave me a free birthday bottle of beer which was nice) and then we headed to Piku at Red Barrel.  Simply amazing Japanese food, I couldn't...

Couch Moving / Beth's School Visit

Submitted by TiM on

Whew!  Was woken up at 5:30am by Beth standing in the bedroom saying "Mummy and Daddy Theo is upset and crying can you come and help him".  That was nice of her.  Theo was crying, his Big Bae had fallen off and he was just generally sad.  He was also very upset that I hadn't come down to help him after he'd been crying out for me a lot.  Poor little guy, usually I hear him straight away (or at least fairly quickly) and go down to help him, but this time neither I nor Sarah had heard him crying.  Oh well, a few cuddles and a kiss on the head and he was OK, though I have no idea if either of them actually went back to sleep before it was time to get up an hour later.

Yesterday Beth went to school for an hour, to see what...

Weekend in Taupo

Submitted by TiM on

We just got back from a weekend in Taupo, we stayed at the same place we did when Granny and Bilby were here a few months back.  We headed up on Friday night and arrived about 5:30 pm or so, and checked into our room. Once settled in we all headed up to the pools to go for a swim.  Sarah had bought the kids $3 biscuits, which they totally loved.  They spend the whole weekend cruising around the pools in them.  I thought Theo might have a bit of trouble, but he was in it first go and just loved cruising around the place.  "Paddle Paddle Kick Kick" he'd call out as he tried to motor around the place.  Beth's really good with getting around, she spend a lot of time on Saturday night jumping in and out, swimming out and swimming back.  She's a better swimming now...

Theo's Scooter, Bowling, Cousin's Sleepover

Submitted by TiM on

Theo has been thoroughly enjoying his new scooter.  We were a bit worried he'd keep defaulting back to wanting to ride on his Motorbike, but I'm pleased to report that hasn't been the case at all.  He took the Scooter to Grandma's on his Tuesday visit and they went to the New Playground.  She said that while he liked the playground, he spent 2 hour just riding his scooter in the little scooter/skateboard area having a real blast.  I'm so glad he loves it as much as he does.

So anyway wind back to last Friday night, which was Theo's birthday party.  Just a small gathering at home, Holly, Age, Joseph, Isla, Peter and Mary all came over.  We ordered pizzas and had a nice night in, he loved his Captain Barnacles cake.  It was a very tasty cake too.

Saturday morning was 10 pin bowling out in Hastings for...
