Sick Again

Argh! I've been quite sick again this week, I had to have Thursday and Friday off. Which was kinda annoying with Sarah away so I was looking after the kids too. At least they weren't sick, because that would have been a nightmare within a nightmare! I think this stupid cold is one of those that you think you're over, then a week later it comes back with a vengence. Because that's what happened to lot of my workmates in Wellington and it's certainly what happened to me. Trying to sleep at night was hard, not because of coughing or anything but just the nightmares. As soon as the Panadol/Asprin wore off I was having all sorts of horrid nightmares. Wasn't good.
Anyway I managed to get myself out of bed each morning to get the kids ready for kindy, and at least both of them being there meant I could try and catch up on sleep during the day, though it didn't work that great. Sarah got back from Auckland last night, so was able to do the wakeup parent duties this morning which was good because I slept in until ~8:30 or so. Theo has been so happy this morning, very excited about the new book that Sarah bought him at the airport. Beth's been upstairs most of the morning colouring in her new watercolour book. You paint water on the paper and it goes colourful. Then when it dries out it goes back to normal (no colour) so you can do it over and over again. Beth loves it. At the moment we're just sitting in the lounge watching Thomas on the TV. I recorded Theo and I reading his Thomas book today, sounding out the letters and he remembers the name of each engine. It's very cute, especially because he still loves to have Little Bae wrapped around him while reading his book. Hopefully he'll go for a sleep this morning, but he had a big sleep at Kindy yesterday so I am doubtful that he'll have another sleep today.
I took Beth to swimming yesterday morning, I am amazed at what a real fish she's become. I didn't spent too much time watching her because I was also minding Theo, but everytime I looked over she had her head under water. She's got so confident in the water, it's really great to see. I have to tell her off for trying to always blow bubbles in the bath because Theo copies and of course all he does is inhale water and cough a lot. Silly billy.

I've started playing lots of Chess again lately, trying to get my brain working again like it used to when I was a kid. I found my old darling chess computer online, I loved this thing so much when I was a kid. I remember the old reason I chucked it out about 10 years later was because it was totally broken, its lights just flashed and blinked. I used to think I was quite a good chess player, but apparently that old chess computer was only a slightly-above-average player at best, and I could only beat it on the easiest level. Turns out actually I'm really not a great player at all! Oh well, it's still fun and it keeps my brain occupied every now and then. I can only get better.

Hopefully a restful weekend and I'll be ready for work etc on Monday, stupid cold.
