We had a very exciting weekend last weekend! Saturday was meant to be Theo's swimming but it's been rescheduled for a few weeks out. So on Saturday instead we had a big clean up in the morning because Beth's friend Liam was coming over on Saturday afternoon. In between cleaning up Theo and Beth helped collect up lots of Feijoa's to put out for sale. They sold so quickly, I put out bags after bags after bags and they'd get sold as quickly as I we could stock them.
About 1:30 Liam came over to play with Beth, they had a good time running around out the back, playing on the trampoline and having a little disco in Beth's room. We went and found some pumpkins in the garden and cut one open to check that it was good to go, and they were.
Then while I was out putting more Feijoa's out, Colin from over the road came over and said BTW Tim there's going to be a wedding this afternoon about 2:30 and there's going to be a Road Train pulling up with all the guests! He knew that Theo loved trains so said we should come over and have a look.
So while Beth and Liam were playing I was keeping an eye out for the train and eventually it arrived. I took Theo over to have a look at it and while we were checking it out (It's the Hawke's Bay Express) and the man who was driving it said "I have to take it around the block to park it up" (he'd just dropped off the guests off to the wedding) "why don't you jump on while we go around the block?".
Theo and I quickly rushed over and got Beth, Liam, Liam's Mum and Sarah and we all jumped on the HBE and it took us for a quick lap around Jervoistown. Theo was about 40 seconds in when he burst out with "I can't believe it!". The ride was great, the driver was really funny with lot of silly "Kids look after your parents" stories.
Once we got back to Colin's after our little 5 minute ride, we took the driver a big bag of Feijo'as to say thank you.
Sunday morning Grandad came over, bringing us coffees and fluffies which was nice. Gwen (Beth's best friend at Kindy) was coming over so we cleaned up a bit more and got everything ready. Theo helped me bag up more Feijoa's and get the stall ready, Beth got ready for Gwen's arrival.
Gwen arrived and the girls ran off to play with legos and outside, Theo and I went to the cafe to get some breakfast and coffee. When we got back we went and did some more Feijoa's, then we went to go to Anderson Park to "see the Fains". Theo and I were going to ride on the bike with the kiddies seat on the back, but sadly the back tire was flat so I had to push Theo in the pram while Sarah, Beth and Gwen went in the car. Theo thought it was pretty funny that he was back in the pram again, so did I really, he's such a little machine who loves to walk and run everywhere to put him back in the pram was quite funny. But eventually we got to Anderson Park to see the fains.
Theo and I went for a ride first (we had lots of $2 coins from all the Feijoa's we'd sold) and we went for a ride, ours was very exciting because the train derailed on it's second lap! We were all fun, but Theo was very excited to watch them to and get the train back on the tracks. Then Beth, Gwen and Sarah arrived and we went for another couple of rides. The last ride we went for was on an actual mini Steam loco, coal powered. The girls both hated it because of all the smoke and steam that it blew, Theo didn't seem to mind though. But yea, it was pretty stinky. Then we all headed home, Theo and I back in the pram again.
On the way home Theo and I swung by Bruce's house, he's recently had a heart attack! So I was mega surprised when I saw him mowing his lawns, but it turns out he's supposed to be doing that sort of stuff a couple of weeks after to keep up his fitness etc.
It's been a busy week at work, I've been riding my bike every day, the last few days I've had a few issues with the chain rubbing and a couple of derailments, will have to try and look at it during the week.
Oh and of course sad news about bunner, we had to have her put down. Last Wednesday I went to check her and when I picked her up she was mega thin and boney, not like I'd ever noticed before. We bought her inside and she seemed happy enough, hopping around and eating some banana. But on Thursday when Sarah got home to check her she was really bad, with flies landing on her and laying eggs etc. Sarah took her to the vet who said that sadly she was too sick to try and get well, so we had to have her put down. Poor Bunner! Beth was quite sad about it for 24 hours, but she hasn't been mentioned again since (Though tonight she did mention her a few times). Sorry Bunner, I hope you are a happy bunny now.
And into that we segway into Easter! With rabbits everywhere to remind us. Oh dear.
Oh yes, Theo this morning and yesterday morning said to me "Daddy do we have any... Flake...corns?" Pretty much the cutest thing he's said. He's doing SO well with his toilet training, Kindy pretty much said he wasn't ready a few week ago, but we knew he was! We were worried they'd think we were trying to put the hard work of it onto them, so we did a bit more with him the last week and he's been great both at kindy and at home this week. Pretty much all weekend he'd tell us when he needed to go to the toilet. One little wee in pants incident but that was all, no major dramas!
Oh well. Happy Easter!
Tim
