Saturday morning

Submitted by TiM on

Saturday morning once again. I've been listening to Double J heaps the last couple of weeks, it's really good. I've found a few decent songs of like that I like. Makes a change from listening to the same music from the 90s over and over again. Of course the problem with listening to the radio is that you get a mix of great songs, then the odd shitter.
Speaking of a real shitter, what.cd got shutdown recently. It was a music site that I had an account on, it was "illegal" in that it allowed you to download music. But it was amazing because it really strict rules about the quality of the content on there, it had to be "perfect" audio to be allowed. And it had all sorts of b-sides, rare stuff, live stuff. Stuff that there was just no way to get anywhere else. I can't believe it's gone, it was an amazing library of music. RIP what.cd, you'll be missed. I have a Google Play Music subscription, but it's not the same. It has all the generic, can find it anywhere music. what.cd had rare Rage Against The Machine b-sides etc. At least I did download of it while it was still going, now I have to make sure I back it all up because if I lose it, I don't know how I'd get a lot of it back!
What else has been happening recently? Work's been really, really busy. Stupid busy. And the customer doesn't always make it easy, either. I suppose if it was supposed to be really easy they wouldn't be paying us to do the work for them, but the last few days have been especailly frustrating. Argh. I keep waking up in the night thinking of various bits of pieces, worried that I've forgotten something or something's missing. I woke up at 5am today and spent ~30 minutes doing work on the environment just to satisfy myself that it was all working correctly. Which it was. Stupid.
Hayfever at the moment, ugh, it's so bad. Really driving me nuts, I woke up last night with such red, itchy eyes. The pills you can get seem to do a little but, but not that much. I hope it doesn't last too much longer. Sarah gets it really bad too, but it doesn't seem to be affecting Theo or Beth which is good.
Theo seems to making a few more attempts to walk, maybe not quite walk but at least he'll stand up on two legs and push his block trolley, or the baby bus around. His legs are certainly getting stronger, he's always outside on his trike, or pushing something, or climbing up/on something. He's got a bit of a cold at the moment but the only thing it seems to be affecting is his appetite, otherwise he's going great. Maybe a bit more grizzlebag than usual.
Beth's doing a great job with her toilet training. The last two nights we've put her to bed in only undies, not a nappy. Both nights we've woken her up about 10-11pm and made her go for a wee, which she does and then goes back to sleep. Both mornings she's woken up with a dry bed and rushed off to go to the toilet.
Garden's going well! Have managed to get a few courgettes from the courgette plant, the cucumber plant is going well and the kaffir lime tree has, amazingly, come back to life long after we gave up on it. I nearly pulled it out and chucked it away the other day, but I did see it had a tiny little bit of green on it so I thought "maybe, just maybe" and sure enough it's managed to pull finger and come back to life. It's got some little green leaves and it's away! I can't believe it pulled through, but I'm glad it did because we had that tree in Hazelmere road and it came down in the moving truck with us.
Took Beth and Theo for a walk around Jervoistown yesterday, Beth was on her balance bike and she's so good now! She listens to everything I ask her to do so I don't have to worry (well, too much) about her getting run over or something like that. Theo was in the pram, but you can tell he's itching to get out. But I think expecting him to trike that distance might be a bit too much, especially with a cold. We stopped in next door to say hi to our new neighbours and meet their puppies! Beth loved them, but was also a little timid because they like to jump up and they play-nip as well. But she loved it. I palmed one of the 3 massive broccolis I found growing in the garden yesterday off to them. You should see the size of this super caulliflower that's here. It'd feed a family of 10.
Last Saturday we took them both to Ocean Spa. It was good, but Theo just wanted to grizzle about everything and Beth didn't want to do as much swimming as she usually would. Not sure what the problem was exactly. We still had a nice time, but we didn't stay for ages. I went and picked up my leaf blower from the Stihl shop, it'd had its first service. I missed it for the week I didn't have it.

Whew, it's been a morning. Theo bit Beth (badly!), Beth pulled down the darling hut (since restored) and then Theo has just fallen off the outside back steps and given himself a huge fright (he's fine)

I better go and parent.

Tim
