Thoe's Bad Dream / School Report

Submitted by TiM on

Theo was really sad this morning when he woke up.  Just really quiet, not himself.  I sat him down in the pantry and gave him a big cuddle and asked him what was wrong.  He whispered some stuff I couldn't understand, so I gave him another big cuddle and asked him to explain again what was the matter.  In the end he told me: "I had a dream that I had some things I really liked, but, when I woke up, I don't really have those things".  I didn't ask him what those things were, probably bayblades or a bakugan.

We had his first school report/interview yesterday, his teacher Lisa Anderson said that he was doing really like, soaking everything up like a sponge and really enjoying school.  He's active in the class, his writing is coming along well (we didn't realise he was writing little sentences, she showed us some of them) and his reading we can tell has gone from not being able to read at all, to needing to rely on the pictures in the book, to now where he reads the word and only sometimes has to check the picture to be sure he's saying the right thing.

But yes, his teacher gave him a glowing report, we thought maybe he might be struggling with having to go in the "calming corner" quite often, but she said that he's gone in there a few times but it's not really a big problem.

Had a fairly low-key weekend.  I stacked a bunch of wood away, there's only one big pile left now.  Had a major stuffup with my beer, I left the gas on to carbonate the beer I had in there and didn't tighten up the VPRV properly, so all the CO2 leaked out! Argh.  I drove out on Friday morning to get it filled, turns out you have to wait 2 hours so I just dropped it off instead.  Went and collected it Saturday morning after Soccer instead.  Theo's really not into soccer at all, he was subbed off this week and when the coach asked if he wanted to go back on he just said "No thanks".  At least he's honest.  Beth however seems to be really enjoying tennis, she has a great time and a smile on her face the whole time.  So that's good - I think we'll give Theo a trial of tennis to see if he wants to do that instead.  Or maybe Rugby or Hockey.

Anyway, better get back to work, as always.
