The Fucked Up Repugnant School Holidays

Submitted by TiM on

Well first of all, Happy Birthday Theodore Harman for last Wednesday.  7 years old.  Can't believe how quickly time has flown my little man, from a tiny little baby who I held soon after you were born, to the funny, handsome, silly, smart little man that you've become.  We're always ever so proud of you.

So yea, last week was the first week of the two weeks of School Holiday.  Because I'd done so much work when I was pretty crook, and a couple of those were early morning work, I was given Wednesday off for Theo's birthday which was nice.  He woke up not too early and was happy to lie in bed until everyone was up and awake and ready to ply him with presents.  This year he got:

  • A Space themed schoolbag
  • Walking Boots (That were too big, so were given to Beth and new ones in his size were ordered)
  • Track for his Scalextrix
  • A Drone to replace his old broken one
  • A huge big Minecraft Lego kit (From Granny)
  • A lavalamp (From Peter and Mary)
  • Running Shoes
  • A F1 Ferrari Cap

His friends came over at 10:30am and they had a great time, I'd been over to Jordan's the night before to borrow one of his PS4's and it had a bunch of games on it for the kids to play.  They had a great time playing games, driving the Crazy Cart, Eating lollies/chips/etc.  The whole time (and even the night before) Sarah was feel pretty average but she did a good job of solidering on, helping keep everyone entertained and feed etc.  Come 3:30 it was time for everyone to head home with a party bag. Overall a pretty successful party, the hardest part was making sure that everyone got a fair turn on the PS4.

Thursday Sarah was feeling even more average than ever and when I got home she presented me with a postive COVID Test.  Oh no, time to go into isolation again.  So I worked from home on Friday, the kids didn't go to School's out because they don't go on Friday.  Friday night we ordered Hell Pizza.  Saturday morning I got up and thought "Shit, I feel way less than average" but hoped it might just be the 4 cans of beer I'd enjoyed with my Pizza.  But come Sunday no, it was way worse than that.  I tested myself and I was positive. Oh no.  Had to happen.  So the poor kids had two sick parents.  And by this stage both of them were blowing snot and grizzling.

To be fair to them, both of them have been champions.  Mostly just watching their iPad, but also reading and playing and just being really good about it.  Beth will bring me in little presents or give me a hug to say she hopes I get better soon etc.  They're both lovely thoughtful kids.

But yea this last week has just been a shitshow.  I was in bed for Monday and Tuesday, Sarah's been unwell for most of it.  Holly and Adrian dropped around some painkillers etc, Peter and Mary have been over to say hello/goodbye through the glass.  Sarah actually felt ok yesterday and was allowed out anyway because of the 7 day rule.  But yea, it's been a shit second week of school holidays for the kids. Didn't go anywhere, had to stay inside most of it due to wet and miserable weather, Mum and Dad sick/tired or trying to work.  We were very luckily given back our money for the school holiday programme, because of COVID.

And yea the kids haven't tested positive at all.  We've tested them both pretty much every single day and not a single positive test even though they're living in the house with the two of us and we were positive.  Who knows?

Anwyay so aside from Theo's birthday party, which thankfully he could have, we haven't really done bugger all since the last diary update.  Just been stuck inside with COVID.  I'm looking foward to getting back to work next week, getting back out riding my bike, doing some exercise and not feeling like shit.

Tim
