Last Tuesday was my 47th Birthday. Happy Birthday to me. Damnit the H and G keys on this laptop are dying, so I'll be needing a new laptop soon. Anyway excuse any missing H and G's in this story, this poor old Dell won't last much longer it seems. So yes it was my Birthday. I got on the scales to see how much I weighted and folks, it wasn't pretty. So I'll be on a diet again for the foreseeable future. Cause I'm fat. Oh man half the keys on this keyboard are giving up. If I press g I get repeating lines. It seems once the laptop has warmed up they all work properly. Bizzare.
Anyway, it was my Birthday. I got up and Theo had totally forgotten and went about his morning, but when Beth came out she sang me Happy Birthday and then made the cutest little hat for Kermot to wear around for the day. She makes so many cute little arts and crafts at the moment, I love seeing them all. Once Beth had come out and remembered Theo did too. I had a quick present unwrap before heading into work, I got some much needed new Bike Gloves, a new bike vest (that I don't fit properly because I'm too fat) and a Microwave toasted sandwich maker. Which you'd think was probably a gimmick but my lord it works so amazingly. I love it. I've made 2 toasted sammys in it and they've both turned out perfectly. The main secret is you have to flip the sammy maker over halfway through the cooking process. Mum had a box of Brave delivered, Dad sent me some pingers. I got some very cool T-Shirts as well. Look at this lovely card I got from the family, though I think it's mostly the work of
A few Saturday nights ago Peter and Mary kindly looked after the kids for the night for us. So we went into town, had some drinks at Matisse and then dinner at Hunger Monger. As you know I'm not really a fish fan, but HM really is amazing. So tasty, it's hard not to really enjoy it, which I did. It's crazy how early Napier in general finishes up though, 8pm was our seating and we were the "last seating" of the night. By the time we we left at 9:30pm we were the the last ones there. I mean Matisse had been packing up as we walked out of there at 7:50pm. A wine bar in the middle of town! Napier still is so small.
Took the kids to their first Rugby Match yesterday. Not really because I have suddenly decided that I like Rugby but Beth was given a free ticket during the week (Free child with paying Adult!) and really wanted to go. Mostly I think in the hopes here friend would be there, a couple of whom she did see. It was the HB Magpies vs Otago and I have to say you couldn't ask for a better first match to the take the kids to. It came down TO THE WIRE. After the final timer went Otago had control of the ball and fuck me if they didn't score a try (which in itself took the 3rd Umpire a good 3-4 minutes to decide was a try). So it came down to the fact that Otago needed to convert to win the match, but they didn't! The final score was Magpies 33, Otago 32. The kids were beside themselves with excitement at the end, so close! So they really enjoyed it, which was nice, we had a great time together. Even though most of the time they were more interested in eating chips and hotdogs.
It was the People of Now Awards last Thursday night (17th) and I was asked once again to be the MC, which I agreed to. The night went well, I got there one hour too early though due a miscommunication (well, I was told the wrong time). So I got to walk around the Old Church for an hour while the sun went down (and the caterers setup). The evening went really well though, even with Kent trying hard as to get me to misprounce "Tuatahi First Fibre" by sending me about 100 messages saying "It's pronounced Tuatara IPA". Nice try but it didn't work. Didn't really matter because the TFF people weren't even at the event! We had a great night though, lots of fun, my workmate Grant won the Walk the Talk award which he fully deserved, having being sleeping on the couch etc to make sure the generator at work kept working during the cyclone. As thanks for being the MC they bought me 2 x 1L Can of Tigermilk and gave me a $50 voucher! So that was very kind of the company.
The other thing Beth has been making are these little "squishies" which are a homemade version of some to you can buy (I guess?). Yesterday I got a "Blind Bag" of various chip packets. Look how cute these are. And here's the ones she make me a couple of weeks ago.
I think that's all the news that's fit to print. At least for the moment! Back to work.
Tim
