Chris and Barb's New Place / Wistera

Submitted by TiM on

Saturday took the kids to swimming as usual, then got out and mowed some lawns.  Again it's so nice having proper blades, it cuts the grass so well.  I must remember in a year's time when things aren't great to check the blades again!

Satuday afternoon we took George for a nice long walk, we went down to collect him and then walked him to the dairy and back, via our house for a quick groom.  All up the kids were walking for about two hours, some good exercise for them.

Sunday I got up early and went to Mitre10 for some really boring stuff, a bulb for the Monkey (only a year late), a new bulb for the Salt Lamp, a new smoke detector. Some No More Bugs.  Really exciting stuff.  Then while Sarah over to Chris and Barb's new unit with Beth, Theo and I cleaned the Wistera off the roof.  Well in fact only I got up on the big ladder, Theo was down below ready to call 111 in case I fell off and hurt myself.  But the old ladder that previous owner built is sturdy as (even though it's made of wood!) and once I was up on the roof it wasn't too hard to get rid of it all.  The stuff up around the chimney wasn't great, but I held on and only made a small number of squeeking noises.  I hate heights.  I got HEAPS of Wistera off the roof anyway, so much.  And yet if you look at the house it doesn't look like I've touched it.  Insane.

Sunday night we went over to Chris and Barb's new little unit.  It's very nice, it's fresh, clean, has nice new carpet.  They've very luck to have found such a good little place to rent for a while.  And a bunch of the stuff we helped salvage when we went over ~6 weeks ago through all the mud, Sarah had washed and dried and they were on the shelves etc.  It wasn't much, but it's nice for them to have a few of their old belongings.  Heaps of people were there, we had buns with Ham and some sausages.  It was nice.  Good to see them have a little place to call home.

And that was the weekend, pretty much!

Tim
