So we've been isolating at home for the last few days. Good thing we all got our Easter Egg shopping sorted a few weeks ago. I hate that feeling of going to the Supermarket the night before and looking to get some eggs and there's just nothing - I've left it to the last minute a few times before and it's always just the shit or the broken eggs that are left. Anyway not this time, I got Sarah's Malteasers Egg a few weeks ago and hid it and she got my Pineapple Lump egg a few weeks ago and hid in a spot so hilarious I can only assume she wanted me to find it. So yes, worked from home on Wednesday and Thursday, Friday the Good Lord gave us a holiday. Didn't really do a lot with the kids, it was a bit miserable weather wise. I most did some gardening, trying to get things looking halfway normal, the kids mostly did their iPad etc. Peter dropped off a Suduko book for Theo and he had a good time doing some of that. Saturday was more of the same, Theo and I went for a Bike Ride in the afternoon though to go to the pump track up by the Pettigrew Green Arena, but it was all closed off because of the Stopbank strengthening work they're doing. Didn't matter it was 4k there and 4k back, when we go back Sarah and Beth had cooked some lovely Apple Muffins so we scoffed a few of those. Saturday night I broke the law by going up to the bottle shop to buy myself a box of beers. Please don't arrest me, I promise I wore a mask and didn't lick anyone. Plus I'd tested negative earlier that day.
Sunday the Easter Bunny had been, left some eggs out in the Garden for the kids to go and find. It was pretty exciting for them, he'd left some in the house in their basket and then there were 10 more that were found outside in various places. Then Grandad arrived and hid some on the back section, and then needed to give me a ring because he'd got his car stuck in the mud down the back. The trucks etc that have been for the pool have really made a mess of it down there and it doesn't help it's been raining like a Mofo recently. So yea after a bit of stuffing around the next door neighbour Brad helped pull Peter out with his ute. Then the kids went down the back to find the baskets that Peter'd left hanging up in the tree. The rest of the day was just hanging out, watching some movies, being lazy basically.
Monday I got up off my arse and took my flab for 10k. Was hard work but I'm glad I did it. Then we took the kids to Timezone which they had a great time at, with the points they earned Beth bought a small yellow blob thing and Theo bought a Green stick hand. It's funny how the fun toys are still the same ones 40 years after I was a kid, the ol' sticky hand is a riot. And Beth loves her little Yellow blob thing, I forget what it's name is but she loves it. She carved out half a Lemon and lined it with Glad Wrap and that's were the blob lives. She asked me last night when the Lemon house will go mouldy...
Today was the first "proper" day of school holidays, I took a day of Annual Leave to look after them. I took them for a walk up Sugarloaf with the dog (he's on a diet he's too fat) and then we went to see Sonic The Hedgehog 2 which was, well, the kids enjoyed it. And I appreciated that the writers put in some jokes for adults to keep them from wanting to stab themselves in the neck. Then we came back home and here we are. Back to work for me tomorrow.
Only other news is I installed Zorin on my Dell after a few weeks of umming and arrrrring. Linux is just as terrible on a laptop as it's always been, it sort of works but sort of doesn't. You need to spend a weekly googling little fixes and tweaks like why USB Audio crackles (pulseaudio bug?), why the laptop doesn't suspend (wifi driver bug you have to remove the wifi module just before you sleep and add it as soon as you resume) and why does it suck so much power on battery - answer is install TLP. Why isn't it installed by default you ask? Farking good question. Anyway after a week of hacking on it I have it working pretty well, though it's always hot to the touch. Depends on which fan drive you use, of course...
Not much else to report - some more progress on the pool today. A bunch of plants, the tiles and other bits arrived today and it looks like it might all be happening soon. So that's good. Still more things to sort out, of course, but progress is being made.
Oh Crazy Dog Lady has moved on. She's taken her sheds and she's out of here. She kindly left the back gate, she told me that she'd had that installed back when she first started using the place. We always thought it was ours. Anyway she says she can't use the back section with all the divets and marks the trucks have made in it and I can't say I blame her, it's pretty bad. But she won't be missed, she hasn't done the lawn for over a year anyway. Or at least 6 months.
