Had a good weekend with the family! Saturday Theo and I went to swimming, he was a bit uncertain about it again (mostly putting his head under) because he hadn't been for ~3 weeks so was a bit unsure/unwilling to do it. But after a bit of convincing and some practise he got the hang of it again towards the end of the lesson. Once we'd been swimming we came home, topped up the sold out Feijoas and then headed out to the Taradale Firestation Open Day!
We thought they'd love it and they did really, but mostly they were more excited by the trampoline and the seesaw out the back of the fire station than they were by the various cool things they had on display. It was a great open day though, there was a demo of a kitchen fire, we sat Beth and Theo up in the fire engine and they had this "get out alive" thing where you had to crawl through a dark tunnel. At first Beth was very scared by the whole thing (and so was Theo, who copies whatever Beth's reaction is to something new or unknown) but after Daddy crawling through it a couple of times it was suddenly the most fun thing in the world and they were sad when we said they should go and look at some other fire stuff.
It was a good demo day though, they were even handing out free sausages which in always a winner in my books.
After visiting the Fire Station we went home and topped up the Feijoa's again because they'd sold out. I did a bit of gardening, Sarah put up the new bookshelf that she'd bought. Peter C came over to say hi to the kids, then Holly, Adrian, Joseph and Isla came over. We had a bit of a dinner party/drinks thing which was good fun, we thought everyone would stay over but the kids kept waking each other up. At one stage Theo wandered out and told us "Something is Woggling My Peaner", his label wasn't sitting in his undies properly.
His doing great with his toilet training, he's basically out of nappies now except at night. Otherwise he's great during the day now, no accidents or anything at kindy now. Go Theo, it was really easy once he got the hang of it!
Sunday was a bit tired from the night before, but took Theo to his extra swimming lesson (they'd had to cancel a week earlier so the fix was to have two lessons on one weekend) which was pretty good at. Oh but before that we dropped Beth and Sarah off at Puketapu Park for Gwen's birthday. Once we finished swimming we drove back out to the Puketapu Park for the remainder of Gwen's birthday, where everyone had a good time. Beth went on the flying fox by herself about 15 times which is amazing, she's so grown up!
After the party we went home and everyone tried to have a sleep, but Beth didn't want to have one which of course means I didn't get one either. So Beth and I went out instead and collected more Feijoas and put them out for sale, another 18+ bags sold which isn't too bad. Then dinner time then bed!
I was supposed to fly to Auckland today, but there was a MASSIVE storm overnight in Auckland, so my flight was cancelled about 1am in the morning. Oh well, there's plenty of other non-Auckland work to do anyway. Sarah, Beth and Theo picked me up from work and Beth announced that Sarah was "Going to buy me some chapstick and I'd like Candy Cane flavour or Strawberry flavour but if they don't have that then you can just choose one for me Mummy!"
Theo also had a BIG day today, he spent the entire day in Vita, the "big child" room at Kindy instead of his usual Amichi room. Apparently he did really well too, no toilet problems and he even washed up his own lunch dishes too. So looks like he might be moving over fairly soon. Go Theo!
In other boring news, the left rear doorhandle just fell off the car the other day! I guess maybe because Theo hangs off it? I've got a couple of people hopefully giving me a quote to get it replaced, I can imagine it's going to be stupid expensive for what it is. The new lawnmower man has a grass car, this is of course amazing. It's FREEZING today, it's like Winter just arrived. On the weekend it was ~25c, today it's about 8c and we've got the fire going. Good think Beth and I stacked all that firewood a month or so ago, I didn't think we'd need it so soon!
Oh and Sarah bought a 2 pack of chapsticks, Beth is very happy with her flavour (they didn't have the ones she wanted). Her and Theo have been going around applying their "chopstick" as Theo likes to call it. I guess because I call him Choppers/Chopstick all the time.
