Theo Loses Another Tooth, Pool Gone, Bike Rides

Submitted by TiM on

Theo's front tooth fell out on Sunday night.  It'd been threatening to do so for a while, being super wobbly and all.  It started to bleed everywhere but he still wouldn't grab it out, but eventually on his bed it came out.  Seeing as he's (accidentally) lost the previous two, when he held up what a appeared to be a piece of dead popcorn from his floor and loudly exclaimed "My tooth came out!" I thought oh no, he's lost this one too!  But a quick search of the floor located the actual tooth, while the piece of dead popcorn he thought was his tooth was deposited into the rubbish bin.  The tooth fairy visted overnight and gave him $2 for his tooth, which he seemed pretty happy about.

I've taken Theo for a couple of bike rides the last few weekends, two weekends ago we went for a 5km bike ride (which he was so happy about he wrote a story about at school) and then the weekend just gone we did an 8km bike ride!  He loves it, he asks if we can go and he likes to go a long way.  We rode from home down along the bike path to try and go to the little cafe in Pirami, but it was closed when we got there at 2pm in the afternoon, so we had to settle for stopping at the dairy for a packet of chips and a chocolate milk.  Which he was super happy with anyway.

While Theo and I were doing that, Beth and Sarah went out to Hastings Farmers to buy Theo his Birthday present.  His old Motorbike that he loves so much just doesn't go anymore, I've tried charging it but it doesn't even hold a charge anymore, it will got for ~10 minutes really slowly before totally giving up.  So we've put that onto the skip, much to Theo's upset even though I coached him through saying goodbye to it.  Anyway he's got a brand new super zippy thing for his Birthday coming up, like his motorbike but faster and bought from a proper store so that if it does start having issues we can get the warranty on it, and spare parts hopefully etc.  His motorbike was just a cheap Chinese thing that really was quite naff really, the battery was a joke given how quickly it went from working to nothing at all.

Theo's reading (gosh this seems to be about Theo?) is coming along in leaps and bounds too. He's at the stage now where he loves to look at ever road sign and read them, he likes to tell us about words he read and how he knows certain letters are silent etc.  It's great to see him happy to tackle a book now instead of just curling up in a ball and going "But I can't read!" like he would at the start of the year.

Beth is going great at cheerleading.  She always gets crabby when I call it gmynastics, but that's pretty much what it is.  She really enjoys practising though, always doing handstands and cartwheels on the trampoline etc.  She's getting really good too, her handstands are pretty much spot on these days and her cartwheels are looking like wheels now.  To start with they were more a sort of forward flop.

Did HEAPS of pool demo over the long weekend.  I ordered a large skip and I fretted about it a bit last week, thinking it wouldn't be big enough.  How wrong I was, what I thought was "a little bit of wood" soon turned out to fill the whole thing.  So I'm glad I ordered the large one, not the small one.  I even kept all the scrap metal out to take to the metal scrapyard and it still filled up to the max.  This is a photo when it was 2/3rd's full!  And here's a video (mostly for my enjoyment) of what's left of the pool area.  Mostly just plants.  That was pretty much my whole weekend anyway, didn't do too much else apart from take the kids swimming, Theo for the bike ride and Sunday (or was it Monday?) Jordan came around for a couple of hours to have a catchup and tell me what's going on in his life etc.

Work's super busy, but going great.
