Speedway v2

Submitted by TiM on

Had a nice weekend!  Friday night they wanted to have a sleepover in Theo's room.  No problems there that's easy enough to pull out the pullout bed from under Theo's bed.  So they had a good little sleepover in there, lots of giggling and noise though so we had to get a little crabby with them towards the end.  But they finally went to sleep.

Saturday up to go swimming. New teachers this weekend, Theo has Paula who seems to have a rep of being a bit mean.  But she did a great job with Theo, he seemed to progress his freestyle in one lesson which is more than I can say for the last couple.  Beth also is doing well too, her backstroke is going nicely.

Once we left swimming I dropped the kids at home before zooming off to Taylor's Pools to get some chemicals to settle the pool over Winter.  Just Algecide and some other thing that stops Algae growing.  So I fiddled with the pool for 30 minutes, then did a bit of gardening.  Then I took the kids to Anderson Park after Beth'd asked repeatedly to go.  Beth found a friend from Cheerleading there and they both ran off and had a great time playing, Theo took his Crazy Cart and enjoyed zooming around on that while lots of people stopped to comment on it. Photos.

Sarah picked us up and we went home and went to the Speedway!  It started at 4pm and that's about when we got there and it was already super dooper packed, twice as many people as the time before when we'd gone.  I guess because everyone knew it was the last one and because the Weather report was for a clear night.  So we manged to squeeze in some seats.  It was good, but it was ~5 hours before finally the Double Decker Derby was on.  There was a Double Decker race early on and everyone got all excited, but that wasn't it.  We had to wait another 2 hours or so before the actual Derby was on.  In the Deby the cars were allowed to try and tip/spin each other.  Beth and Theo were both cheering for the "Kermot Car" and even had their pictures taken with it (pre derby).  Sadly Kermot Car didn't last the race, but it had a good time and it lasted quite a while which kept them very entertained.  Once it finished it was our own race to get out of there and beat all the traffic home.  But we'd parked in a decent place and it wasn't that hard to leave.

Sunday we had breakfast at Blakey's, then went to visit Peter and Mary for an hour.  Then back home I spent the afternoon weeding the veggie garden and greenhouse.  Now I have a Ring camera out there overlooking the garden it's less out-of-sight-out-of-mind so I think even if I spent 10 minutes a day out there, we can have a veggie garden we can eat/live from.  That's the plan anyway.

Beth and Theo just took it easy, Theo rode down to his mate Ben's house, Beth lay in the chair on the deck and read her book. Sarah did the joyful Supermarket run.

And now it's Monday.  I've got flights home to Hobart booked for the middle of June to go and see Dad, so looking forward to that.
