Talent Show, Auckland Trip, Bake A Cake, Website Upgrade

Submitted by TiM on

Theo's spent the last few night practising for a Talent Show at school.  We sat down and marked out 5 jokes from his beloved Joke Book to read out, making it easy for him to find with sticky notes so he could just flip to the right page.  He practised reading out his jokes with Diney the Dinosaur "talking" while each was being read out.  It was the Talent Show yesterday and it sounds like it went well, though he's told us varying things about it like he didn't score well, but then he scored 12 out of 15 (we think?) etc.  Anyway regardless of how he scored, he did it which is great.  It was a big deal for him to do and Sarah said he was obviously nervous about it yesterday when he was being dropped off at school, so I'm glad he got up on stage and did it in front of everyone.  Well done Theo!  Here's a video of the Talnet Show.

Last Wednesday morning I got up at Stupid 'o' Clock and my workmate Grant picked me up and we flew up to Auckand.  Got our litle hire car and zipped here and there.  We dropped another workmate off in Newmarket, had some breakfast, then went into Mayoral Drive to do some patching.  We parked up there and walked down to 220Q to make a few more changes etc.  Then we went over to Glenfield to show our resident legend Jules the box he was going to have to power down and help us move.  Then over to the final location for the router. Then

Then we went and checked in, had some lunch, chilled out for a couple of hours and had a snooze, went and had some dinner and then at 11pm we powered down the router, uncabled it, moved it to it's new location and powered it back up.  And blow me down it powered up straight away and everything came up.  So that was good.

Got to bed finally about 3am, pretty stuffed!

Weekend we just went swimming in the morning, then to a party at Nicola and Steve's that night.  Kids had a pretty good time, few injuries for Theo that we had to nurse but otherwise all good.  Sunday Theo went over to his mate Luke's for a play date and had a great time by all accounts.  I went for a long run while Theo was there.

Monday night I baked a Guiness Cake for our Hawke's Bay 100 fundraising.  It seemed pretty popular come Tuesday morning at cake time it was the first cake to dissapear pretty much.  So happy with that effort, even though one of the bits I brought home for Sarah had a little lump of baking soda in it - I hope not to many other slices did!!!

And wow, now it's the end of this weekend!  Yesterday I did Parkrun again, then we took the kids to swimming.  Then we went to Origin for some breakfast, Luke (Theo's mate) came over to ours for a Playdate while Sarah and Beth went into town and Sarah got her first Covid Vaccination.  Luke and Theo had a great time playing, a bit of Crazy Kart, a bit of playing with Biscuit, some lego etc.  I brewed two 10L kegs of beer, one proper Williams Warn one and a one a can of Black Rock.

Sunday morning - Theo went to Golf with Grandad, Beth and I walked up Dobel with Biscuit.  Then we got a bite to eat at, you guessed it, Origin.  Did a bit of cleaning and tidying, I helped a couple of neighbours with their computer problems.  Was good to help Ken because he's lent me his trailer a few times and I haven't really been able to pay him back.  And helped Chris next door too.

Phew!
