Chicken Alert

Submitted by TiM on

We have another rouge chicken outside at the moment. Sarah posted a photo of it last night, when I got home and after I bathed and put Theo to bed (he loves going to bed so much!) Beth and I went outside to "Hunt for the chicken!" with our torches. We looked everywhere and I'd actually given up thinking the chicken was long gone. Just as I was walking inside I caught site of something sitting on the BBQ and sure enough there was poor ol' Mrs Chicken tucked and fluffed up for the night. We went a little bit closer and had a look, Mrs Chicken woke up and became all alarmed so we took a few steps back.
When Beth woke up this morning we quickly (It's cold!) went outside to have a look at see if Mrs Chicken was still there, which she is. Sarah put a post on Facebook about the chicken and a few people think it might be theirs. I'll take a photo this morning when the sun comes up.

Heard from Jeremy yesterday, he's going to be coming over for my 40th which is great. We told Beth and she was quite excited. "Uncle Jeremy? Uncle Jeremy is coming? For my Birthday?".
She was really good at swimming again on Saturday, did lots of jumping under the water and swimming to me quite happily. She was also happy that Lisa was back, we didn't have Lisa last weekend we had a sub who did quite different things to what we're used to.

Edit: Well it's now Sunday morning and I'm finishing this. Beth and I tried to palm the chicken off to a few people on Friday night in the pouring rain, one lady wanted to take it but then it didn't want to get out of the (cat) cage I'd put it in, and she said that if she forced it out the other chickens would probably peck it to death. So we took it to Sue, the chicken lady but she wasn't home. So we returned it home and put it to sleep for the night in one of the sheds, we felt bad for it having been out in the rain and cold all Friday so it got one night of dry sleep.
Saturday morning was swimming, Beth did a fantastic job. I was really impressed with her ability to put her full face in the water, blow bubbles and then turn her head to the side to breath in, rinse and repeat. I helped her swim a full circle of the pool doing this, she was really good. Because it was the last lesson of the term there was a treat at the end, we were allowed to go down the waterslide! But Beth remembered it from the one time I took her ~1 year ago and she was not keen at all. I mean she was, she really did want to go, but the noise and smell and the scary stairs up were all to much for her so we went and sat in the hot pool instead.
After swimming we went and got a Lotto Ticket (40m prize, had to be won!) and a coffee plus a little cake from the cafe.
Once home we tried to take the chicken back to Sue, she was there but suggested that another house might be missing it. She said she'd take it if we couldn't find a home for it, but the next house we took it too said it was probably theirs and took it back. Bye chicken, hope you're happy in your new, well hopefully old, home.
Then the cake I'd bought Beth kicked in - bad daddy. At least we managed to get her to go to sleep for an hour before Joseph and Theo's birthday party.

Mum arrives today, we'll head to the airport this afternoon to pick her up. Pretty sure we didn't win lotto.

Thursday I go in to have my Gallbladder removed. Yah. See ya later you pain in the guts. Actual pain.
