What a crappy day Thursday was. After approximately 5 hours of sitting around and getting a small announcement every hour telling us "The umpires will do another pitch inspection in an hour" we were all told to go home. An utter joke. This article here explains it best I think, even though it's satire it's exactly how we felt! I was so annoyed with the whole thing, as I expect were the other ~8000 other people. I just can't understand how the pitch was that bad. 2 hours after the last rain they reported that it was getting worse, that was when the players were out warming up and the crowd were sure that the game was about to start any minute. I'm just so disappointed, I was really looking forward to seeing Australia play live. It's been ages since I've seen that, I think it was just before Sarah and I got married that I last saw them live at Napier cricket ground. But I was too busy stressing about all the bits that had to be done for the wedding to enjoy it. And anyway Australia lost that day, doh.
At least Peter and Mary were looking after the kids (thank you!) so instead of the cricket we went out to Sri Thai for some dinner. Yummo.
My Fitbit that I got for my birthday decided ~3 weeks ago to explode suddenly. I was sitting on the couch and I put my arm over it and plop, my fitbit fell on the floor. Odd, I though so I looked at it. The band had totally come apart, but not in a way that was repairable at all. I took it back into Harvey Norman and they agreed that yes, it should be replaced. Which I was secretly quite happy about really because I'd accidentally managed to somehow put 2 large scratches into it. Which is odd for a screen that's made out of gorilla glass. They promised I'd have a new one in the next few days. Well of course it's taken them 3 weeks to sort their crap out, but finally I have a watch back again and can start counting my steps. While I was waiting I bought a screen protector for it off TradeMe for $10 so that if I do manage to scrape it up it will only be the protector, not the actual watch.
Theo is walking, but really still not very much. He'll walk 10-12 steps down the hallway, but still with his feet quite out sideways and it's still a novetly for him and he's happy to just crawl most places. I hope he's OK, it's stressing me out a little bit. He loves to have a go at walking but it still seems for him it's something for him to do to get praise, rather than something he wants to do. I hope it's just because he can crawl so fast to where he wants to be that he doesn't see the need to crawl, but I'm a still a bit worried.
We went to see model airplanes fly around today. Very cool, only 10 mins drive from here. They were models, but they seemed real apart from the fact they were small. There was even a couple of jet planes wooshing around, very very cool! Beth was more interested in running around the place though, she accidentally bashed into a bloke and he got a fright and she got a fright! It was sort of funny. It was also funny for some nearly people when Beth sneezed a massive sneeze all over me. Ugh gross.
Otherwise, all seems well at camp Harman. It's a long weekend. That's always nice.
