1 More Day

I more day until Beth's 4th Birthday. Each morning when she gets up now we get my phone and have a look at the little app I have installed that counts down the days. Sarah baked the cakes for the big day last night, they are looking and smelling good!
I took them up to Taradale last night to buy some dinner, I helped Theo put his shoes on and then, totally unprompted, he went and picked up Beth's boots and took them down her to room for her. Of course she screamed at him "No Theo I don't want those ones" but he's still such a lovely little helpful man. Beth does the same sorts of things for him though, bringing him a toy when he's sad or of course his ever-loving friend little bae.

We had a nice weekend up in Taupo with Ben and Di. Di's Uncle owns a property at Taupo Airport which was quite exciting for the kids. Not quite on the main airstripe, but still we could stand on the deck and watch some of the nearby planes taxi away as they went to take off. Shame it was a bit of a wet miserable weekend, but we still managed to make it enjoyable. Saturday we went to the AC Baths and the kids had a good swim there. Beth really enjoyed jumping and diving in, Theo enjoyed thinking he was going to jump/dive in but mostly he would just shuffle ever closer to the edge because he finally fell in. It's good both of them are confident enough to go into the water though and know they're going to go under. Beth's really good, she spends more time under the water than above it.
Once we got back from the Baths everyone had a sleep and then we went for a walk along Lake Taupo for a while, then went and had some chippies and a beer at a local pub. Sunday we went to an adventure place a few km's out of Taupo, they had a lego cave, a maze and remote-controlled trains and boats. The kids really enjoyed themselves here, the lego room was fun too trying to find all the little hidden people around the place.

Then of course we had to packup and head home which was sad for everyone. But amazingly both Beth and Theo had a good sleep on the way back, it had been a pretty exhausting time for everyone. Beth was probably tired too because I think she spent a bit of time.

Oh no Beth's just woken up at 6:30 so I will have to cut this entry short. But we're all well now and mostly over our colds and flus and all that. Ugh it was a nightmare. Even last night Beth still had a bad cough, the Dr has said that for most people the cough goes for about 6 weeks after the flu clears up. That certainly seems to be ringing true for Beth.
