My bike

Submitted by robin on

I got my new bike!

Yes after about four months waiting and countless hours deciding what type of bike I was going to buy, I got it… It’s shiny red (well was that colour until a few hours ago) and rides better than all the bikes I tested before.

It’s not a well-known brad of bike; “Matts Speed” but it rides great. Anyway first night I got it I took it for a ride, 45km into the ride the gears start stuffing up. The bike seemed to jump out of any gear I put it in forcing me to walk. This was a major piss of I was 30km from home and walking really slowly through the back streets of bridge water on my way back to sandy bay. I can tell you walk through bridge water in the middle of the night with a brand new bike, can be a bit dodgy. Any way I didn’t have to walk all the way home, Denny pick me up a few km’s from the bridge and took me home; I was freezing. Anyway I took the bike back (you would think that a 2000 dollar bike would give you any problems) the guy fixed it in a second, and now my bike rides like a dream again.

Lesson number one about "new bikes" or anything "new" for that matter!

things (specifically cables in this instance) stretch once they get used a bit! Thsi can cause problems when tension and precision is the key to the successful operation of a gear derailleur.... :)
