Home Lockdown, Zorin, Easter

Submitted by TiM on

So we've been isolating at home for the last few days.  Good thing we all got our Easter Egg shopping sorted a few weeks ago.  I hate that feeling of going to the Supermarket the night before and looking to get some eggs and there's just nothing - I've left it to the last minute a few times before and it's always just the shit or the broken eggs that are left.  Anyway not this time, I got Sarah's Malteasers Egg a few weeks ago and hid it and she got my Pineapple Lump egg a few weeks ago and hid in a spot so hilarious I can only assume she wanted me to find it.  So yes, worked from home on Wednesday and Thursday, Friday the Good Lord gave us a holiday.  Didn't really do a lot with the kids, it was a bit miserable weather wise.  I most...

COVID Arrives, Karate Grading

Beth woke up yesterday morning with a cough and quite a blocked/runny nose.  I honestly didn't think too much of it at first, got them both up as usual, fed them breakfast etc.  I even had a shower ready to go to work.  It wasn't until I was walking out the door that my brain went "Oh hey we might want to Covid test Beth" so I got Sarah to do that while I got the last bit of everything ready for work.  Sarah came into the lounge 5 minutes later "I've got some bad news".  So that's why we'll be working from home for the next few days.  At least Easter is coming up and, thankfully, we don't have any travel plans this long weekend, so our isolation time isn't impacting anything.  Just our will to live.  Beth's been great though actually, she slept fine last night (apart from...

Holiday at Mount Maunganui, Meeting a Car Door, Pool Shed

Submitted by TiM on

The pool shed finally got installed this week.  Now the equipment can be properly sheltered from the wind, rain, dirt and all that sort of stuff.  Next up is to dig a trench so that power can be provided to everything properly.  Most of that work is already done, but there's a few more bits and pieces that need to be done to get it all sorted.  At least I don't have to have a minor heart attack anymore each time it rains, worried that the chlorinator has been left uncovered.  It never was, but I always had a little panic what if it was? It would be a major suckhole to have to buy anyone one of those, they're not cheap apparently!

Got knocked off my bike the other day.  Well, more technically I rode into a car door that someone decided to throw open at me in the...

Salami Antenna

Submitted by TiM on

Yesterday morning packing the kids lunchboxes.  Theo always likes to get a couple of little Salami's, they're about 2inches long, in his lunchbox.  He always eats them.  Anyway when I went to get a couple of them out of the packet, one of them hadn't been cut properly and about 3mm of the salami above it on the production line was attached.  So it looked like the Salami had a little antenna/satellite dish on it, you could spin it around.  Anyway I pointed this out to Theo who agreed it was very cool and neat and I put it in...

Trampoline Moving, Covid, Crooked Installs, Fake Dinner, Jordan's Wedding

Hello Diary! How's it going?  Been busy, as always.  I pretty much have to mentally think to myself "Right, I must sit down and type in my diary for 30 minutes" these days to actually get it done.  It's not like the old days when I seemed to have all the time in the world.  Anyway, what's been happening?

The back deck and pergola are done, though we're still not 100% sure on how the pergola looks.  Sarah's a bit worried it looked took enclosed/like a garage.  But we're going to wait until the pool fencing and landscaping etc is completed before we worry about it too much, it's hard to figure out how it's going to look at the moment with no landscaping or anything else done.  Of course one of the things we found out a couple of weeks ago when the deck was being extended off the...

Sarah's 40th, The Bucket, Passport Renewal

Submitted by TiM on

OK well I'm being a right nerd at the moent and typing this from the pool on Saturday morning.  Not our pool, but the pool that's at the aquatic centre while Beth is doing her swimming lessons.  Theo is sitting behind me playing with Unicorn Pusheen, Winking Pusheen and his Dolphin Toy Finny.  I thought I'd bring my laptop because it's an hour of me just sitting around not doing much, watching the kids swim aand little else, so I thought this will be the right time to try and catch up on my diary entires from since ages ago.

So, TWO whole weekends ago was Sarah's 40th Birthday Party at Cape Kidnappers.  Early Saturday morning we got up and spend the morning getting the house all clean and tidy for guests.  Ben and Di were driving down from Hamilton and also people would be coming over after the party...

I cluster ever onwards

Hello from the Chorus Forrest Hill Exchange.  I'm in Auckland with Julian (Jules) from work, we drove up from Napier yesterday morning at 5am to get here to do some work.  It's not very exciting work so I won't bore you with the details.  Anyway as part of coming up on Monday I got all the stuff ready to renew my Australian Passport.  Thought I'll just walk into the Passport Office while I'm here and renew it.  Sarah did some checking and, long story short, turns out you need a booking to renew your passport these days.  And bookings are...

Happy 40th Sarah

My lovely wife is 40 today.  A very busy day for her, she was up at 6:30 and at the gym by 7:15!  While she was out though the kids helped me get their cards ready, I blew up some balloons etc.  Hope you have a great day.
