Toaster Update

Submitted by TiM on

The toaster is offically dead. Thankfully it was still under warranty, so we have a new one. Everyone is happy. Toast for masses.

Also, I should clear up that I haven't posted any new photos yet. I'm going to take in all my negatives sometime and get them put onto CD-ROM, then I'll put them up here to look at.

Nothing much new today. We went and had a meeting with the Company lawyers regarding a customer who is doing things that they shouldn't be. Bad customer!

Checkout www.mtnsms.com which is an Internet site you can send people SMS messages for free. It's really cool. Feel free to send me one (+64 29 650 407) and I'll send a few back. If I can be bothered! :)

Roll on Friday!

I blew up our toaster.

Interesting day today. Got up early to come into work to work on a customer fault and decided "Yup, I'll cook some tasty toast." Stick the bread in, press the button down, 5 seconds later the stupid thing pops the toast back up again. So...

I got a bit annoyed and pushed the "Cook my frikkin toast" button again. 5 seconds later, Mr Toaster pops the toast up again. So now I'm really annoyed and I push the button again and watch it this time. Knowing it's being watched it decides to make "Bzzzt Bzzzt" noises and catch on fire. Whoopsie. So I managed to end up with uncooked toast and an on fire toaster. Why does this always happen to me?

So I think I know what I'll be buying the flat for Christmas!!

Apart from that a pretty average day. Still wondering what drugs upper management is on...

The photos are offline until I fix things that I broke. I've also got some more back (my black and white "arty farty" ones) so I'll post them at the same time I fix it all up.

I've also updated this news system a bit. Hopefully I didn't break too much other stuff.

UPDATE: It's all fixed now. Yaaa, etc

Rantings and Ravings and Stuff!

Well, things are certainly getting interesting at work. Without going into too much detail (you never know who might be reading) the troops are a bit restless. There have also been some interesting suggestions as to how we could make management take a bit of notice that they're acting like a bunch of fill-in-this-blank's.

Anyway, if anything interesting happens I'll post it here. Currently things are still ticking along as usual.

The giant Santa has been repaired about 10 times I think in the last few weeks, obviously winking and wriggling the finger at the same time is pretty hard to keep running. Keep in mind that this Santa is 5 stories high, so I suppose it's a bit hard.

Another day over. Phill brought a TV card for his computer so we had a bit of a go this afternoon trying to get that to go. Think it...

I Hate Smoke Alarms!

Submitted by TiM on

I got rudely awoken this morning by the next door neighbours smoke alarm. Seems the concept of cooking toast is too complex for her, so it smoked her place out and set off her smoke alarm. Being awoken by "BEEP BEEP BEEP" times five billion doesn't put you in the best of moods for the rest of the day.

I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night was certainly the highlight. I had an invite to the Alcatel Christmas bash, which was being held aboard the good ship something-or-other. I can't remember, and I'm sure no one else can either. Suffice to say they took us out on a nice Catamaran, feed us lots of beer and wine and food, then sailed us home again. After the boat trip finished we all trooped off to the pub, where the Alcatel man was nice enough to put his Amex card behind...

Big Hunks of Tasty Dead Animal

Hi there. Not much exciting has been happening in the last few days. Not suprising really since I'm at work. I'm ment to be going sailing tonight so hopefully that'll be fun. Also luckily I get to come into work at 6am tomorrow to change some hardware.

We went to "WildFire" for lunch today as a group. It was really good, I highly recommend flying over to New Zealand just to check it out ;)

They serve lots of lusho meat right off the spit. They bring the spit out to your table, and carve off as much meat as you can handle. Then they keep coming back every few minutes until you've had enough. Even better than the Ball and Chain! Best thing was our manager paid for most of it, so it was a pretty cheap meal too.

Well that's about it, a pretty short entry. I got...

Johnnie Visits and the Missed Bus Incident

Submitted by TiM on

Well this weekend Johnnie (my dad) flew over from Tassie to visist. It was good to see him again, and we had a pretty good time checking out some of the places I haven't yet seen. Yesterday we caught the ferry over to Waikeke Island which is a really nice island about the size of Bruny. We had a small adventure too...

When we got there we caught the bus and travelled around until we found a nice place (a beach) to get out and walk around. We grabbed something to eat, and I suggested we walk up the other end of the beach while because I was sure that the bus would travel along that way. Johnnie wasn't so sure, but I kept saying "Stop worrying so much, we'll be fine" which turned out not to be the case. The bus was due to arrive at 2pm, and when...

Late Night Power Fun!

Submitted by TiM on

Seeing as everyone seems to love the shopping trolley in the latest poll, I now have a picture of one to put with the articles. Just want everyone wants I'm sure!

I'm in at work at the moment, it's 10:30 Thursday night. There's some power cutovers occuring tonight, so I'm in here so if the shite hits the fan, I get to rush around with the mop and bucket. Or something like that.

Johnnie (my dad) is coming over to visit tomorrow. So that'll be good. We'll probably go over to Wahekie Island (spelt totally wrong I know) which is a ferry ride from the end of Queen Street. That's if it doesn't piss with rain. Otherwise the Sky Tower is looking like a good option. Though if it's raining what's the point.

Anyway, enough rambling. Interesting things I've done this week: I've signed up for Wednesday night sailing on...
