Watchin' The Cricket

Submitted by TiM on

I'm sitting at home (having a lager, gotta love payday), watching the cricket on TV. It's been AGES since I've seen a one-day cricket match, so it's great to finally watch some. Sure, it would have been better to watch it last weekend. Even worse, I found out yesterday that it was moved to Sunday! I was royally pissed when I found that out!! I suppose if I'd watched the news on Saturday night I'd have found out that it'd been moved. But I mean, who watches the news?

Not me, that's for sure!

Anyway, the Kiwis are playing Pakistan at the moment. I'm going for Pakistan, mearly so I can give my Kiwi workmates shit when the Pakkies win! I'd much rather be watching the Aussies walk all over some team, but some cricket is better than no cricket at all.

Still looking forward to leaping out of the...

Nothin' Interesting

Not much exiciting been happening the last 2 days, just work. There's plenty to do, as usual. We've been going to a lot of meetings lately, meeting customers and finding out what their requirements are etc. Real exciting.

There's currently a bit of a battle on as to who our actual manager is now. We (me and Phill) have a new IP manager, and he says we're going to report to him, but our current manager also seems to think we're going to report to him. Who will win the battle?

Still looking forward to my Sky Diving this Sunday! It's going to cost $385 all up, but that's getting a video and photos (as you're free-falling!!) so I think it's worth it. It's not the kind of thing I'm going to be doing very often, that's for sure. I went up the Sky Tower again today, and it still...

Sky Diving

Well I've finally decided I'm going to do it. I rang up on Sunday to find out how much it'll cost to leap out of a plane at 12,000 feet. $250 is the answer, and I think it's well worth it. Will I get over my fear of heights? I doubt it. Will it be fun as hell? I think so!!!

So yea, Sunday is the big day. I've booked in and all, so here's hoping that the weather is Ok. And knowing what it's been like in the past 3 weeks it'll turn out to be shit. Well there's always the next weekend.

Speaking of weekends also this weekend I'm going out to the SCPA for my first time. Well, it's going to be the second time that I've gone out there but it'll be first time I'm actually going to be helping out. Last time was just...

You can't play cricket when it's raining.

Submitted by TiM on

Yes it's another bitch about the weather. I was really looking forward to seeing the New Zealand one day cricket team get thier butts kicked by whoever it they were going to play. I can't remember who it was, and it's not important anyway. So of course I woke up this morning and it's pissing with rain, and it has done all day. Makes for a very very boring Saturday that's for sure.

So buggered if I know what I'm going to do for the rest of today. I'm reading a really good Stephen King novel at the moment, "The Green Mile" so that's kept me amused for most of today. That and some new music I copied off Napster yesterday onto my MiniDisc. I'll be very amused if Napster gets shut down, there are already thousands of other services out there just like it (though smaller) that do exactly...

Our New Manager Arrives...

Submitted by TiM on

You'll have to excuse this post, it was written while the author was still rather drunk after a number of beers at work. Every few months we have what's called "In The Bag" which is where staff get recognition for being good. ie all the sales staff get patted on the back for selling something to a customer that the techo people can't possilbily support. No, I'm not being cynical at all. I love the sales staff. They're great people. Especially in coffins. Oops.

Did I say that? Maybe I did. Well anyway, today we got to meet our new manager, who thankfully looks like he has a clue. Even better, he looks like he has a lot of clues. I'd even go so far as to say he seems like a pretty decent guy. Which as I'm sure you can guess is a good thing. Finally someone who knows...

Fantastic!

It's still stinking hot here in Auckland. My little weather thingy told me today that the humidity had gotten up to 80% today. That promptly sparked a major debate amongst the people I work with as to what exactly humidity is. The debate has only been more heated once before, when we got to discussing how they make stripy toothpaste. That argument I even marched down to the local store to buy some stripy toothpaste, just to cut it open and see what's in there. But the store didn't have any! That debate's still on hold at the moment. I must buy some tonight so we can cut it open tomorrow and see what's inside.

Anyway, as I was saying, still very very sticky and horrible here in Auckland. I ended up buying a fan after work last night so that I could actually get some sleep last night. That...

Damn, You're Ugly!

You've really got to love your relatives sometimes. Especially the ones that seem to have a major problem with their toliet paper when they go camping (more on that in the next few weeks).

My darling Auntie Leanne found

this charming baby photo of me. And made me promise to post it here for all to see. I don't really mind that much, it's not the photo that I thought she was going to force me to post.

Damn it's hot!

I know I keep bitching about the weather, and for that I'm sorry. But I got 2 hours sleep last night because of how humid and hot it is here at the moment. I think I'm going to buy a big electric fan on my way home tonight, just so that I can try and get some sleep. Everything in my room feels like someone has been through it and sprayed it with a fine mist from a water bottle. That's how bad it is in my apartment at the moment!

Hopefully my stuff will be here by the end of the week (I've said that before)

I'm really hopeful this time though, I've sent them everything they need now (they also needed an "official" copy of my passport) so any day now the big delivery truck should be rolling up. I'm getting pretty sick to dead of the same...

Did I mention how crap Auckland's Weather is?

Submitted by TiM on

Another weekend ruined due to the crap Auckland weather. Saturday wasn't too bad, but I really couldn't be bothered doing much, and there wasn't a real lot to do anyway. Sunday however when I had stuff planned (go to the Sailing Club, go to the food festival) all it did was piss with rain. The whole day.

Well, at least I didn't get runover by a bus, so I shouldn't really complain to much.

Brought a basketball on Saturday as well. Still haven't got around to using it yet, but now I look out the window it's looking pretty nice. Might walk up the street tonight and shoot a few hoops. It's been ages since I've played basketball.

In other news, Tru Brick has snapped again. I think it's time for Tru Brick to do the ultimate "snap" off the top of a cliff. I'm sure it could be doctored...

Now I'm Poor Again

Well, like yesterdays title said, a fool and his money are soon parted. I'm sure that Johnnie is now a much happier camper though. They have to make transfering money between countries as hard as possible don't they? The lady today looked like she wanted to kill me when I mentioned I'd like to send money to Aus. Prehaps "sneering at the customers" is part of a bank tellers training, who knows?

So as you've probably noticed I've upgraded the website yet again. I do this mearly to amusing myself and learn stuff, it's pretty hard to make a load of bollocks interesting! If you don't like the new layout feel free to post a comment and complain. I'll make sure I delete it as soon as I see it...

Not a lot planned this weekend. The tramping club aren't doing anything that inspires me to go to that this...
