Tru Brick

Submitted by TiM on

Remember this poll?

Well it looks like it's been answered once and for all by a crusty old guy who doesn't know how to drive. Turns out that on Saturday the old guy in question decided to drive into Tru Brick while it was parked on the side of the road!! Poor Tru Brick, it's now smashed to pieces and probably beyond repair.

Tim has promised to take some photos of the damage, mostly for my amusement. It seems like the Brick can't go more than a month or so without something falling off it or hitting it. Here's hoping the crusty old guy's insurance pays for whole new Hobie, not just repairs!

TiM

I think I need a car.

Submitted by TiM on

I've decided I really need to get a car. I'm at the stage where there is a

lot of stuff I want to do, and public transport here in Auckland is pretty

much a laughable joke. My car of choice? Well, I haven't brought anything yet

(and probably won't for a month or so) but I'm looking at Mini!! They're

small, don't use much gas, are easy to fix, and who's going to want to steal a

mini, right? That's the theory anyway.

I'll then have to pay to be able to park it somewhere, but I think I'll look

at moving a bit futher out of town once I do get a car. Probably only far

enough so I can ride / catch a ferry. Having see the traffic here of a

morning there is no way I want to drive. Plus paying $10 a day for parking

seems...

Rage Against The Business Cards

Submitted by TiM on

Well for the first time in my life I have my name on a business card. Woohoo. How excited am I? Well actually not very. Especially when they look as poxy as these ones do. I mean, they don't look a bit poxy. As far as poxy goes, I think these business cards are in the running for the "Oh my god, that's so f*cking poxy" awards 2001!

I'll try and scan one in and you can judge for yourself...

More than 1 person has suggested that maybe I shouldn't bag out the company I work for on a server that's part of the network of the same company. This is excellent advice, and maybe oneday there is a small chance that I might follow it. However, as it stands, these business cards blow and I'm not afraid to tell it like it is. I can always skulk back to...

My Stuff Finally Arrives...

Submitted by TiM on

Well it's finally made it. Just when I'm sitting down in the pub for a bite to eat, the phone rings. The delivery people are outside my place and want to know when I can get there. It's a good thing I live 3 minutes from work. The stupid twats were supposed to ring me 1/2 hour before they arrived. Still, I wasn't about to bitch and complain at them.

So it's all here, and it even appears to be intact. I plugged my guitar in and had a real quick blast. Anyone sleeping in my apartment block would have gotten quite a shock I'm sure. SUFFER!!! :)

So now all I have to do is buy a table etc so I've got somewhere to put all of this stuff now. My room is pretty much chockers already, and I haven't unpacked most of it.

I'm glad my guitar amp...

Nothin' Today

Submitted by TiM on

Nothing much interesting today. I finally got around to ringing the shipping company and asking them where the f*ck my stuff actually is. They said "Oh yea, it's right here. When do you want it?"

Stupid dickheads. I wonder how long it was going to sit there until I chased it up? Useless morons.

So we'll see if it finally arrives on Thursday as I've been told. I've been waiting for it that long now (nearly 5 months) that a few more days isn't going to make any difference really.

I've been eyeing off the PlayStation2 over here for a while now. I'd love to get one, both to play games but also to be able to watch DvD's. But for $995 NZ they're not really the best investment. Especially when I haven't brought a bike yet, and I really keep meaning to do that. It's the type of thing...

Why am I leaping out of this perfectly good plane?

Submitted by TiM on

Well I finally did it. My fears that it would rain this weekend turned out to be totaly unfounded, it's been perfect weather both days!

My flatmate Natalie was kind enough to drive me out to the Mercer SkyDiving Centre (thanks Nat) and I'm lucky she did because it was in the middle of nowhere. I certainly wouldn't have been able to get a bus out there like I'd planned. Time to face my fear of heights once and for all.

So once I arrived, I paid my money, signed the form that said if I went "splat" I couldn't sue them and then met my instructor Dean. He was a pretty good bloke, I think SkyDiving was his career. I got all suited up and told what to do, then it was into the plane!

The plane was the smallest most cramped thing you can image, and inside bits...

Help! This Dog has Rabies!!!

Submitted by TiM on

Well as you may guess by the title, I went and did my first days work out at the SPCA today. It was so much fun!! Sure, it was hot, stinky, I nearly got bitten a few times, but it was really really fun. I caught the train out at 10am (they run every hour on Saturday, so it's sit around for ages) and then walked from the Train Station to the Shelter. I'd forgotten just how long that takes (an hour) and buy the time I got out to the shelter I was already hot and sticky. Didn't matter though, it was about to get a lot stickier!

Stupidy I'd worn jeans out there. It was supposed to be rainy and horrible today, but it was a perfect day. Inside the shelter where the dogs are it was even hotter. Plus the fact I was wearing overalls aswell.

Only...
