Biscuit Training

Submitted by TiM on

Took Biscuit for dog training last night.  He was pretty insane.  It's easy to forget at home just how much of a puppy he is, but watching him interact with all the other dogs at the end of the night its readily apparent that he's just so young and puppy like.  He didn't really know how to interact with the other dogs, all he wanted to do was play with them.  Which is fine, it was just funny.

Hot, Swimming

Scorcher of a weekend!  Saturday I make the kids pancakes, then we went for a long walk to the BP.  It's about a 3km round trip which isn't too bad for the kids!  Biscuit came, I bought my 10L petrol container too for the lawnmower.  I could have driven and probably looked a bit silly taking 2 kids, a dog and a petrol can for a walk, but it was good exercise for the ol' sore knee.  Which still hurts, damnit.

Kneeding Therapy

Went to the Physio this morning.  He poked and prodded and did all sorts of tests on my knee but couldn't get it to hurt.  He could see extra fluid and a small bit of swelling, so he thinks all I've done is jarred it really badly and it's gotten swollen and sore.  But he can't see any reason to be alarmed.  The biggest thing is that my muscles/tendeons are a bit weaker on the right hand side so the bit of leg below my knee can "travel around" a bit more freely than my left side.  So I need...

Knee? Sore. Power? Off. Happiness? No!

What a day yesterday was.  It started out well enough at 5:00am, I got up and went for a run at 5:45.  I thought to myself I'll do another 10km, I had the time and it was a nice cool morning.  I got about 6.5kms in before my knee suddenly started to really hurt.  Really hurt!  So I had to walk/limp myself home.  What a right bugger.

I took the scooter in to get the rear tire replaced, I knew it was pretty worn.  The guy looked at it and said yup it needs replacement and HOLY HELL what about the front tire replace that now!  So it's getting both its tires replaced.  Glad I took it in, it's been something I've been meaning to do for ages.

Went to work, no worries.  Got a call from Sarah about 30 minutes later "The power's off, do you know why?".  Turns...

Is This Thing On?

Wow time has gotten away from me.  It's not because I've been sitting still, far from it!  So all the new windows are in (I am sure I must have written about this) in fact they were in before Christmas.  But we had to get the architraves painted and done, so Sarah organised TopCoat painters to come and paint them.  Stelios came and give them the treatment and they're all done and dusted and looking good now, he was here pretty much all last week.  He also painted the downstairs bathroom too, so it's no longer a bizarre faded purple colour.  So that's nice it's all painted and pretty much finished.  Sarah also organised new blinds for the kids rooms, the spare room and one in the dining room for the big window there.  The blind man came over and installed those on Saturday.  So no longer do we have...

Back at Work - Le Sigh

It's been so hot the last few days!  We've had some fun though, we took the kids for a walk through the Redwood Pines forest on Saturday afternoon, it was ~3km round trip and they held up pretty well.  Well Theo broke down about half way into it and had to be carried out, but Beth, Isla and Joseph all handed it really well.  It was a nice walk too, it was stonking hot outside but under the canopy shade it wasn't too bad at all.  Once we'd finished up there we went into Havelock North for some food and a drink.  Both Beth and Theo broke down at this point and the meal was a bit painful.  They both crashed out asleep on the way home, something that usually takes Beth an hour to do in the car but she was asleep within 10 minutes, so the walk obviously...

Happy New Year 2019!

Phew, finally got a few minutes to sit down and write up my diary.  It's stinking hot outside at the moment, probably 30-32c or so?  I feel bad having the kids out there in such heat and beating sun, so they're inside watching TV and munching biscuits.  We have just been out in the pool for an hour or so though.  The swimming lessons have really finally paid off, they're both just happy to leap in from the side of the pool and swim to me.  Then I give them (mostly Theo) a push on the butt and send them over to the ladder and out the climb.  Rinse and repeat 50-60 times, each time preceeded by "Daddy look at THIS" and then some sort of twist/flip/silly jump is performed.  The biggest problem is they both have to talk over each other and they both demand attention at the same...

Chuck Visits Again, Then Pa Visits

Submitted by TiM on

Last week of work last week.  After the rough as Sunday night, we though were over Theo's vomiting because he was fine on Monday night.  Tuesday night he started hiccuping and I was 2 seconds away from getting to him with a bowl when it was upchuck-a-rama again.  Thankfully this time it was just a single vomit and then he was OK.

Thursday night was Beth's turn! Argh!  So she was home all day Friday, not that she wouldn't have been anyway because of School Holidays.  Theo didn't go to kindy at all last week in the end, he just stayed home Sarah and Beth.

Friday afternoon we had a Prophecy "Christmas Party" which was just us sitting around a table downstairs and having a few beers.  It was Bruce's last day with the company, he's retired.

Friday night Pa arrived, his plane was a little bit delayed but the...

I'm Up All Night To Get Chucked On

Submitted by TiM on

Long night last night!  Sarah and I watched a movie (State of Play - not too bad) and then just as I was getting off to sleep there was a cry at the bedroom door.  Beth had woken up with bad nightmares, so I gave her a cuddle and walked her back downstairs and tucked her into bed.  I had a snack and then just as I was walking back up the stairs I heard Theo "Daddy Daddy!!! DADDDDYYYYYY!!! I've done a spew in my bed".  The words you always want to hear at ~11:30 at night.  Oh dear, I went in to see him and he wasn't lying, he had indeed vomited all over the show.  So I put him in the shower (poor little man was white as a ghost) and changed his sheets, got him all tucked back upto bad.  Hooray for backup BigBae, as the current...
