Granny's Birthday / Casino Night / Lost Phone / Piano Lessons / Bye Bilby

Submitted by TiM on

Been a very exciting couple of weeks!  First of all it was my Birthday a couple of Thursday's ago and we basically took over Vinci's.  Pulled 5 tables together, ordered 4 full sized pizzas and got stuck in.  We also BYO which was great, Thursday night too turned out to be no-corkage night, so that was even better.  Well, for us, not so much for Vinci's.  Had a really lovely night though, thanks to the lovely family for turning up!

On the Friday night Granny and Bilby took the kids for the night, so Sarah and I went out to drinks with Sarah's old workmate David, then we went and got dinner at Sai Thai.  I've had a lunch there before, takeaway, but the dine in dinner was fantastic!  Really tasty food, we had a good night.

Saturday we went to collect the kids, finding them out with Granny feeding the cows with hay and watching the new lambs running around out in the paddock.  It was pretty neat.  It was then time for Beth to go to her birthday party in town, it was at Bead Works or whatever it's called.  Basically she got to make a necklace and a little bracelet which was fun for her and her friends.  While Beth and Sarah were doing that, Theo and I went for a bike of a bike ride around Napier.  My bike was still at work from the night before, so we went into collect it and then zoomed up and down Marine Parade bikepath, having a great time.  We stopped for a donut with Steve, and at the little cafe on the beach for a coffee/fluffy.  Then on the way home we got the bikerack attached to the car and put my bike on it and off we drove home.

Back home, I went out to Brave to fill up my new flagon with Tigermilk, finally on tap, then went in to visit Carrs Kitchen who have moved into their own nice new premises.  Great to see how busy they were, the food was flying out the door.  Saturday night didn't do much, just drank some of my Tigermilk and heard a car crash into the new stupid roundabouts in the middle of the road.  They've been in two weeks and a drunk person (with two kids in the car apparently) crashed into them.  Doh.

Sunday morning I took Biscuit for a nice long walk, then the family met me at Orbit.  We were going to get breakfast there, but Orbit was totally packed so instead we dropped Biscuit off and then went around to Holly and Adrian's for a bit.  Rest of the day was pretty cruisey, I think we all had an afternoon snooze.

Monday night Beth went to her first Piano lesson.  She seemed to enjoy it.  Tuesday night Mum and Bill came over, it was Bill's last night with us.  Beth played up some Piano tunes, we had a night roast dinner.  Then we said goodbye to Bill as he was flying out bright and early the next morning.

Friday night we went around to Granny's for her Birthday!  We took Fish and Chips and a chocolate cake.  Hope you had a great birthday Granny!  We being great parents left the kids there and headed home.  Saturday morning we got up bright and early and did a 5km Parkrun around Anderson Park.  It was great fun, though it was freezing cold and a bit rainy.  After that we had a breakfast at Orbit, then headed home.  I took Biscuit back to Anderson park for a big run/walk around the place, before realising I'd lost my damn phone while I was doing it.  I walked back and forth over all the places we'd been, no sign of it.  After an hour frustrated and annoyed, I went back home and rode back on my bike, thinking I could cover more ground.  After an hour of that I gave up, I figured it must have been picked up by someone because I was seeing all the same sticks, leaves and everything and no sign of my phone.  Annoying.

Saturday night Casino night!  I got into my Tux for the first time in about 12 years!  Taxi came to pick us up about 5pm and off we went to Havelock.  We had dinner with everyone at Delisioca, then went to the Casino night.  You got $10,000 of funny money when you got there.  By the end of the night I'd converted that into about 4 and a half million I think.  Sadly there wasn't any way to convert that into real money!  I did win a silent auction for a half day digger and driver hire though, which we can use to dig out the back yard or similar.  Awesome.  $300 well spent, it's usually about $800 I think.

Sunday was a bit ugh, quite tired and emotional.  We went around to pickup the kids from their two nights at Granny's, then went out to the farmers market, then to do a bit of shopping in Hastings.  Back home I put up the basketball hoop that Sarah had bought the kids, along with new balls to shoot, when she called out to me that the Police were on the phone and wanted to speak to me.  Turns out someone HAD found my found and it'd gone to the station where they'd found my ParkRun entry ticket wedged in the back of the phonecase, which had Sarah listed as an emergency contact.  So I headed into town and collected my phone, still in perfect working condition.  Thank you anonymous person, I did ask the Police if they could tell me who handed it but they couldn't.  Anyway, I'm very grateful to you mr/mrs person.

And that was the nearly two weeks that was!  Tonight Granny came over after school and took Theo and Biscuit for a walk while Sarah took Beth to piano lessons again.  Then we all went up to AMS for the bookfair, buying another couple of books.  The school was handing out free milo, I have a theory because they know kids are going to spill it all over the books and then as a parent you feel bad and have to buy the book anyway!!  (I don't really think that, nothing wrong with buying books for your kids)

And right, now I've done my dash of typing.  Dad's in London at the moment having fun, oh sorry no he's now in Liverpool having fun.  Biscuit is on his dog bed snorting happily and I'm going to go to bed.
