25km Wall, Movie Night, My Brain Is Rude

Submitted by TiM on

Went for a big run on Saturday morning.  I was hoping to do 33km, but at 25km I really just hit the wall.  I could feel even before then that I was getting stuffed!  It was a really sunny morning which was great for running, but I got pretty hot.  Plus I'd pretty much taken the week off because of Easter and not really feeling that great with a flu.  Anyway, I hope it's no an omen! Only 3 weeks to go now, time really has flown.  I will do some long runs Tues/Weds/Thurs and then see if I can do a comfortable 30k on Saturday.  If I can then I'll feel ready and happy.

Hmmm so what else?  Well Tuesday/Wednesday last week I went to work, Theo went to Kindy and Beth either stayed home or when to the school holidays gym program thing.  Thursday being the random day it that it was, I went to beer bike with the rest of my workmates on Wednesday night and had a few beers and then grabbed a pizza from Vinci's before Sarah kindly came to pick me up with the kids.  Thursday I spent a good chunk of the day in the garden, trying to clean out all the horrible cooch grass from the front bushes and just generally trying to make it look like we've looked after our garden for the past 3 months even though we haven't.

Friday was back to work, boo hiss.  Saturday morning as I said I got up and did my long run that wasn't as long as I wanted.  Then we went down to Ahuri with the kids, we thought they'd want to play on the playground but they both rushed down to the beach and spent most of the next hour playing in the sand.  Then we got an icecream and headed home, everyone had a snooze and then it was time for Movie Night for the kids!  We got their spare mattresses out and put them in the lounge, got their sleeping bags out and put Boss Baby on for them.  They had a great time, but the problems happened when the movie was over and it was bedtime.  They didn't want to sleep, especially Theo who kept making all sorts of silly noises and carrying on.  Eventually at 10pm I put them both into their normal beds, much to Beth's sadness/disappointment.  This is the problem now with giving them a big sleep in the afternoon, bed time becomes a nightmare.  Oh well.

Sunday morning they were up and I let them go and sit back in the lounge to watch some TV while I made them pancakes.  Then I went back out into the garden and cleaned up all the mess I hadn't gotten around to on Thursday.  Once day we took the kids up to Puketupu park for a play, that's the playground with the flying fox.  We also took Biscuit and he had a great time, I did some off-lead work with him too and he was very good under voice control.  There was one small incident when Beth was walking him and he saw someone he didn't know and got very excited, ran over to them and jumped up.  ARGH.  At least the lady who was being jumped out on didn't mind.  Silly Biscuit.

The kids had a great time on the flying box, on the Rockopus (ok not so much fun, Sarah and I got on too and it was hard work) and on the swings.  Then we went home, had a break for a bit then I took the kids to the supermarket and then to visit Jordan's new house.

And then that was that, it was time for today which damnit is Monday.  Beth's back to school today, Theo's at Kindy and we're both at work! The End!

Oh, Theo was a bit of a shit yesterday, Sarah asked him why he was being so rude and he went on this hilarious little story about how his brain was just feeling rude.
