So a Half Marathon is Actually 21.1km

Submitted by TiM on

Went for another half Marathon yesterday.  I ran exactly 21km and turned off my GPS.  Imagine my annoyance/horror when I synced up my watch and nothing told me I'd done a half Marathon.  Argh! Turns out it's exactly 21.1km, so I was 100 metres short.  What a pisser.  Doesn't really matter, I've got lots more changes coming up over the next month to do it again, so not a big deal.  And I manually recorded it on the Garmin as a half, so pffffft to you, Strava.

Once I was back from that missions we went into town for a late breakfast at Anjana Eatery, then down to "Decorate a Godwit, Napier CBD. The chance for children and families to decorate and paint a wooden Godwit!".  Beth and Theo had a great time (for 5 minutes) painting their birds.  An old lady helped Theo paint eyes on his and was quite shocked when he drew two eyes on it, one right on the back of his head.  He's three.  Then we went and bought some more Lego because damn if Theo doesn't just love lego.  Then we walked around to find all the Penguins in the shop windows to go into the draw to win a 1 year membership to the Aquarium.  We're not members anymore, the kids aren't that entertained by it these days.

Saturday I mowed some lawns, then I took Theo for a walk up to Taradale with Biscuit to get some dog food.  Poor Beth was still feeling unwell with her fever she'd had the day before, so it was just Theo and I that went.  We had a great walk up, Theo took his scooter and thought it was heaps of fun.  I had to stop him shooting too far ahead and going over driveways etc without looking.  Once we'd bought our dog food we went to the old Heaven's Bakery (that was Martin's Bakehouse but they sucked and closed down) and we had a little snack, before heading over to the playground for 30 minutes or so until Sarah and a very sad still Beth came to pick us up.

Rest of the afternoon was spent doing garden work and/or having a snooze on the couch.

And that was our weekend, pretty much.  Beth was home sick on Friday with her bad fever, but she was over it on Sunday thankfully, after a very hot Saturday!  And it's parent teacher interviews tonight, so we'll get to see how she's doing at school.
