I should be running

Submitted by TiM on

Hello!

It's Thursday morning and I should be running, but I just don't have the energy/willpower today.  I'm really not sure how I got up yesterday to do my 10km run, but I did.  But I couldn't muster the strength to do it today.  Slack, Timothy, very slack.

Been a bit of a rough few days, I've found out my mate Chris is rapidly going downhill and the Drs have given him not much at all.  So I have talked to work and organised to fly back to Australia.  Sarah booked it all for me yesterday on Webjet, I've just now bought some Travel Insurance because I'm a bit worried if I miss a connecting flight due to the previous one being delayed, I might have travel getting cover because they're probably booked as seperate flights, not all linked as one.  ANYWAY.  Very shit reason to be travelling to Tasmania, but I am glad I get to go and see Chris before well, before anything bad happens.

The Auckland Six60 concert was MENTAL.  We Ubered there, but half way there we remembered we forgot our tickets so had to turn around to get them.  Thankfully our Uber driver Viral was very nice and we gave him some extra cash to apologise, because Uber doesn't really have a way to calculate "oops we fucked up had to backtrack for 10 minutes"

Once we got there we went into the wrong gate, but Adrian just talked his way in saying we'll go to the right gate, which of course we didn't.  So that's how we ended up in the GA standing section instead of up in the GA seated section.  Which seemed fine for the first two acts that were on before Six60, but as soon as they came on the GA section got mentally packed.  It was one of those concerts where you spend half your time standing up straight and propping your legs up, and half the time enjoying it.  OK well it wasn't really that bad, but it was just super duper packed with people.  Heaps and heaps of smoke from all sorts of things,  I found out later this week that it was apparently a SmokeFree event.  Well it sure as shit wasn't, I've been to bonfires that produced less smoke.  Once the concert was over we walked back to the apartment, it was a ~30 minute walk which wasn't bad.  We could have got a free bus into the city but by the time we'd have gotten on it and then walked back to the apartment from where it dropped us off, walking all the way was quicker.

Sunday we packed up all our stuff and headed out to the Airport (in an Uber, of course) and flew home.  The kids were happy to see us but Beth especially was sad to have to say Goodbye to Grandma and Auntie Maggie, who they'd really enjoyed looking after them.  They took them to Splash Planet on Saturday, they got a real treat!

And yea, Sunday afternoon I thought I should ring Chris to see how he's been doing and that's when he told me the news the Dr's have given him 3 months, best case.  Which was pretty saddening to hear obviously.  And then I spoke to Simone's Mum on Tuesday night and she said I should come over sooner rather than later if I want to spend any quality time with Chris.  Ugh, what a shit.

Biscuit training on Tuesday night.  He's so good at his sits, his stays, his downs, and his recalls (recall is where you say Stay, walk away a distance and then call you dog to you).  If it could get over his MENTAL EXCITEMENT when he meets anyone new who pays him any attention, he'd be perfect.  But he's still working on that going utterly batshit bonkers bit.  Alas.  He'll get there, but I'm not sure he'll get there in time to pass his dog class.  We'll see.

I think that's about all I have time for, Theo's just got out of bed 30 minutes early and I can't be bothered arguing with him to get back into bed for 30 minutes, because I know that he won't, or if he does he'll just make so much noise he wakes the rest of the house up.  Thankfully he's over his cough, it just went away while we gone for the weekend.  But now Sarah has quite a nasty cough which is giving her problems with sleeping, so that's not great.

I guess my next update will probably written from Tasmania.
