Damn I've been slack in updating my diary this past week. Oh well. I've had a pretty good weekend this weeekend. I've spent most of it hunting around for a new place to live out in the suburbs. The 3 places I'm look at are Mt Eden, Devonport and Ponsonby. That's not going to mean much to anyone not in New Zealand, but bascially they're all central Auckland suburbs, about a 5 minute bike ride from the city. With the exception of Devonport. You get to Devonport by catching the ferry.
I went to the test match on at Eden Park on Saturday. New Zealand Vs Pakistan. Looks like the Pakistan team is going to beat the NZers pretty easily, but that's not really a great suprise to anyone! It was really good to go and watch cricket live again, it's been ages since I've done it. All the New Zealand supports were yelling out abuse at the Pakistan team, and at the Umpires. I spent most of my time with 1 eye on the cricket, and the other hunting through the "Flatmates wanted" section of the New Zealand Herald. I found a number of nice sounding places, and went and checked a few of them out.
Today I've done the same thing pretty much, rung a few more places and been and checked out a couple. I've had 2 places say that they'll have me, but I haven't really made up my mind yet. I think I'll wait and see what's on offer next week. I'm not really in any major rush to move out of my nice little flat in the middle of the city, but the noise and the lack of a backyard is starting to get to me. It'd also be nice to have somewhere to park my (not yet existant) car. Devonport is high on the list of places, I think it would be nice to be able to catch the Ferry to work each day. It's only a 5 minute walk from the Ferry to work, and Devonport is close to the water (and the Sailing Club) so it's really the ideal place. Just not many people in Devonport are advertising for flatmates this weekend.
I went out for tea tonight with Kate and Nicoli. We went to a funky little Mexican Cafe just a few blocks over from our flat. Really nice food, and nice mexican beer. I was going to have the Chilli Ice Cream for desert (It sounded really lusho) but damnit, it was the only desert item that they didn't have tonight. Bastards!!
Poor old Rob. At least now we know why he had to ask Denny to take him to the Doctors. He had his appendix out on Friday night. In typical Rob fashion he plans to be back at work first thing Monday morning.
It's getting pretty late, so I really should turn this computer off and get some sleep!
