I Hate Smoke Alarms!
I got rudely awoken this morning by the next door neighbours smoke alarm. Seems the concept of cooking toast is too complex for her, so it smoked her place out and set off her smoke alarm. Being awoken by "BEEP BEEP BEEP" times five billion doesn't put you in the best of moods for the rest of the day.
I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night was certainly the highlight. I had an invite to the Alcatel Christmas bash, which was being held aboard the good ship something-or-other. I can't remember, and I'm sure no one else can either. Suffice to say they took us out on a nice Catamaran, feed us lots of beer and wine and food, then sailed us home again. After the boat trip finished we all trooped off to the pub, where the Alcatel man was nice enough to put his Amex card behind the counter, and buy us lot and lots of drinks on it. From the stories around the office there were a few sore heads on Saturday.
I know I certainly didn't manage to get up at 7:30 like I was planning to go tramping. By the time I got out of bed Saturday I'm pretty sure the trampers would have been returning on the bus! So Saturday was pretty quiet.
Sunday I got up and headed over to Takapuna to go Sailing. Turns out they were off sailing somewhere else. I suppose I really should have looked at the sailing Calendar before I went, but these things happens. So rather than just bugger off back home I decided to walk to Devonport (a 1 hour walk) and look around there some more. Not a real lot of exciting things happening in Devonport, but it was interesting to have another look around. Then I thought stuff it and caught the ferry back to Auckland.
So a pretty uneventful weekend. Next weekend is the Telstra Christmas bash. Wonder if it'll be like the Alcatel one?? :)
