Happy 8th Birthday Theo

Submitted by TiM on

It was Theo's Birthday on Thursday.  I had to wake him up to remind him, he'd have slept for another hour or so I guess if I hadn't.  He was still snoring when I roused him to remind him it was his Birthday.  He was excited for his Basic Breakfast that we were going to have up at Origin Cafe, and I wanted to be sure I wasn't too late to work after that.

Once he booted up he came into the lounge (still wearing his onesie) to examine his presents. We'd already setup his "Level 8" banner above the TV and a couple of shiny balloons including a Rainbow 8 balloon. Then it was present time!  He got:

  • Two Train Adventure books from Pa
  • Kermit the Frog bag, much like Beth's excepted larger (since named Robin)
  • A Garmin Vivofit Jr. 3
  • Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza Card Game [So much fun]
  • Nintendo Pokemon Game
  • A little guitar pick holder + a bunch of picks

Once presents were over, we all got in the car and drove up to Origin for the Basic Breakfast.  Annoyingly they missed my Basic Breakfast until I pointed it out, but we still had a great time.  Theo ate it all apart from the two bits of toast, but I don't think he really wanted them anyway.  He admitted it was more to eat that it seemed like.  Beth had a pie, Sarah had eggs on toast.  A nice little morning breakfast for his 8th birthday.

Once back home I had a quick shower, Theo talked to Pa on my phone and then I rode into work for a normal work day of workness.

Thursday night Beth and I blew up all the balloons in Theo's birthday garland.  Took a while but most of the hard work was done by our balloon blowing up machine.  I'm sure I've mentioned it before but damn that thing was a great investment.  The Garland all blown up we put the kids to bed.

Friday was PARTY DAY.  Sarah got to work making the cake look amazing, I got to work cleaning up the house along with the kids ready for the party people to arrive at 1pm.  1pm rolled around and Theo's friends Luke and Henry turned up, along with Joseph and Isla.  Everyone had a great time, there was lots of running around with Nerf Guns, lots of fun on the Krazy Kart and just a general good time had by everyone I think.  Sarah put out a great selection of treats and snacks for everyone.  Soon it was time for the cake, which looked amazing.  Mario Kart was the theme of this birthday and the cake had lots of Mario things on it, including Rainbow Road!

Luke and Henry took home their Party Bags decorated by Theo.

Then it was time for part two of the party, when Peter and Mary and Holly and Adrian came over.  And also unplanned but very welcome was Amy, Harley, Maddie, Riker and Maddox.  Little Maddox seemed a bit grizzly and upset, but it was getting late and he's a baby.  We had a nice Thai Dinner, we punted the kids upstairs into the office to play.  Maddie did such a great job of looking after them and keeping them entertained too which was great.  Also somewhere in here (I can't even remember when) Jason dropped Daisy off for a few nights.  So we had a house absoluetly full of people, it was great fun!

Once the party ended though it was bed time.  Saturday got up and took the kids to swimming, I had three kids because we still had Daisy with us and she goes swimming at 11am, exactly after Theo finishes.  So we had a busy morning at swimming, then came home and just hung out for the day really.  I mowed a few lawns, did a few other small tasks around the house.  Sarah helped Daisy and Beth make their own slime, something Beth has been pestering Sarah about for months.  It was messy.

Saturday night just as I was heading to bed Beth told me that Daisy wanted to go home, I think maybe she was getting upset that we were getting crabby at the girls for still talking when they needed to be asleep.  So at ~10:30pm I dropped Daisy off back at home!

Sunday was a cruisy day, I just cleaned up a lot of the left over bits I hadn't yet cleaned up from the Friday night party.  Then I took the kids to Onekawa Pools because they'd been begging to do that for a few days.  Beth was very, very scared of the waterslides at first, so all 3 of us went down in a group for the first 3-4 times.  After that they were happy to go themselves, together.  And then after hopping in the Spa for a bit, the lap pool for a bit, Beth got up the confidence to go down by herself.  So she'd go on the left slide, Theo would go on the right.  And they'd swap.  And they'd pop out of the slides with the biggest, happist grin on their faces.  They had such a good time.  I'd have taken a few photos but I had my phone and everything locked away, good thing I did too because the lady sitting next to me at the table had an ankle braclet on!!!

Anyway we had a great time, the kids really loved it.  Will have to take them again next weekend if they're keen for a few more hours, it's easy to pass a couple of hours there.

And yea, that's been the last couple of days!  Oh, Tuesday we went up to Holly and Adrian's for Joseph's birthday.

Back to school for the kids today, back to Karate for Theo, Cheer for Beth etc.  Fun fun fun!
