Tasmania 2023 Part 2
As usual, behind again diary. Sorry. So anyway, Saturday night I went down to Salamanca to meet up with my old friend Travers. Had a good few pints with him at The Whaler (will always be Knoppwoods) before heading up to Jack Green's for a burger. The sad highlight of the night was a young lady coming up to me and a tad drunkenly yelling at me "DO YOU KNOW YOU LOOK LIKE SCOTT MORRISON?". Thanks Lady!
I power wrote this story while I had 30 minutes before getting the house ready to leave. So it's probably full of typos. I might come back and fix it oneday...
Sunday was a bit hung, Dad and I went to get some breakfast (I think) and then we went Bed Shopping down to pretty much where the Airport is. Spent an hour looking at beds and Dad tested them all out. Eventually he settled on a new bed he was happy with, so we got that all sorted our and then went up a few shops to a little supermarket with a cafe in it, I bought a couple of National Pies in the freezer they had there.
Drove back to Dad's and had a frozen pie for lunch, yummo. Auntie Leanne stopped in a visit with Me, Jeremy + gang. That was nice. Then Jed/Nicole etc went out again, Dad and I walked down to Salamanca to get some dinner but failed badly, so just ended up buying some mince to make spag bol. Went back and I cooked that up. Oh then Auntie Leanne came over, I'm getting my timings all mixed up. Anyway it was nice to catch up with her briefly.
Monday I just worked, Dad and I went down to get some late breakfast and Auntie came down to see us again and hang out with us for a little bit. I went back to work, then went into town really quickly and bought Jordan a Pixel 7 Pro (After he transferred the money to me!) at JB Hifi. Monday night I went and had a few pints with my old friend Chesty, Rob came along too for 30 minutes just to say hi again. Then I met up with Dad, Jeremy, Nicole, Fletcher and Emme for a lovely dinner at a flash restaurant that I don't have enough time to look up the name of. I'll come back and edit it. Lovely dinner anyway. Tuesday was Tuesday, more work, Dad and I went down for breakfast again! Tuesday night I went out and meet up with Simone (and her Mum for a little bit) which was nice, good to see Simone and hear how she's doing.
Wednesday was my last day, worked heaps with Grant on the SDWAN project, went down again I think with Dad to the same cafe we went to everyday (Cafe Rendevous) and then back to work. Did a little bit of shopping around Hobart that night, went to see if I could find some boots that'd fit me and bought the kids a couple of Bluey magazines each. Then that night pretty much packed everything up. Dad and I went to the Ball and Chain for a steak, then to a little dessert cafe for dessert. Had a nice last dinner together.
Thursday morning it was time to depart, Dad drove me down to the Airport and hung out with me. I had to go through Security to get into the Departure lounge, then through ANOTHER security to get onto the Intl flight to Auckland. You'd hope they'd have caught any bombs someone was carrying on the first security check and not needed a second, but anyway. Flight back to Auckland was uneventful, got to Auckland and didn't have a lot of time to get to Domestic. So I was that guy that stood up as soon as the plane landed and once I was off the plane RAN to immigration, then collected my bag (it was one of the first off which was amazing, or they know I had a connecting domestic?) and then cleared customs. Then ran my little legs over to Domestic terminal and checked in.
Made it to Napier, had to wait ages for my damn bag. I roped Jordan into coming to get me for two reasons: 1) It's a hassle for Sarah to get the kids all bundled up into the car late at night to get me and 2) I had Jordan's $1300 phone with me, I just wanted to give it to him so I wasn't responsible for it anymore. So he dropped me home to pitch darkness, which I thought was odd. Every light in the house was off? I walked into the lounge and SURPRISE everyone lept out from behind the couch. Good one gang, you got me!
It was nice to be home again. I opened up my bag and dished out all the presents, presents from Granny for the kids, presents from Pa for the kids. They were SO excited it was impossible to get them into bed.
I got into bed exhausted! Then Friday was a work day... Sadness for me.
