Reading (Pānui)
Bethany is a clear, fluent reader who uses expression effectively when reading aloud. She is able to locate the keywords, and draw on her own personal experiences to make connections to the text. Bethany enjoys discussing complex ideas within her group, and can locate information from within the text to support her response. She questions unfamiliar words to help clarify her thinking. Bethany enjoys showing her understanding of text though completing follow up tasks to a high standard.
Writing (Tuhituhi)
Bethany is a talented writer and has developed her own unique voice that adds interest to her writing. She particularly enjoys sharing her creative stories with her friends. Bethany is able to use a variety of planning formats to suit the purpose. She uses a wide range of descriptive verbs and adjectives which help to create more detailed descriptions. Bethany uses punctuation effectively, and uses paragraphs more often when grouping ideas together in sequential order. Bethany is becoming more thorough in her editing, searching for errors and ways in which she can enhance her writing.
Mathematics (Pāngarau)
Bethany is a keen mathematician. She has made steady gains in her basic facts knowledge this year and should be proud of her achievements. Bethany is able to manipulate numbers using place value for easier calculations in addition and subtraction. She is a logical and methodical thinker, who often needs to talk through a task before she attempts it. Bethany is a keen participant in group teaching sessions and listens with interest to the ideas of others.
Other Curriculum Areas
Bethany is a keen participant in all areas of the Arts. It has been wonderful to see her involved in kapa haka and she represents her school with pride. Bethany shows creativity and perseverance through her artwork. She uses line and colour effectively and adds detail to her drawings.
Bethany is an active participant in science and technology challenges. She was able to research facts on the respiratory system as part of a group activity. She enjoyed the challenge of presenting this information back to the class and of course found an original and creative way to do so. She was a valued member of the Green Team and took the role seriously.
Bethany enjoys all areas of physical education and strives to develop new fundamental skills.
Teacher Comment
Bethany brings an enthusiasm to everything that she does. She is a great role model for the class as she sets high standards for her work and behaviour. She is able to manage her time wisely and have fun with her friends at the same time.
Bethany has great potential as a leader, and always makes sure that her group feels supported and valued.
Thank you for an awesome end to our year Bethany. I will miss the energy you bring to the class. You have made my time here such a positive experience.

This year has been awesome because I have an amazing teacher and I love all of the new stuff I learn. This year I have really enjoyed being in the kapa haka group as I love singing with a group and have lots of friends in kapa haka.
Next am looking forward to making new friends - maybe have a go at being a peer mediator.
