Happy 9th Birthday Bethany Bongles

Submitted by TiM on

It's Beth's 9th Birthday today.  She's been so excited for it all week.  Last night about 7:30pm she started crying and explained to Sarah that she really doesn't want to turn 9.  She wants to stay 8!  Poor little sausage.  Sarah had a talk to her and explained the one thing we can't do is stop growing older.  Not sure what made her start thinking like that, maybe because we often joke with both of the kids "Stop Growing Up!" mostly when their clothes don't fit them anymore or other such things.  It probably didn't help that she was super tired from going to Beyond The Bell, they're always both knackered after going there for the afternoon.

She's having a sleepover with her friends tonight, 3 of them are coming over.  Isla, Daisy and Isla.

Sarah worked on Beth's cake last night, it's got a cute little frog same as on the invitation.

In other news I've gone on a diet - strictly self enforced.  I've been doing a good job for the last two weeks too I must say, even if I say it to myself!  Last Friday at Pub Lunch I still had the steak, but with extra salad instead of chips and a super low carb beer.  The low carb beer tasted like utter piss, so today I'm just going to have a coke Zero or something instead, bugger that horrible piss water.

It was Mum's 70th back on the 23rd August.  Happy Birthday for then Mother.  Mum's coming over for the October School Holidays which is nice, the kids will be so excited to see her.  I'm looking forward to it too, it's been such a long time.  I mean it doesn't SEEM that long really, seeing as I get to see her on video calls all the time etc but of course it's not the same thing.

Couple of weekends ago Sarah went up to Auckland to catch up with her old Vodafone Grad friends.  Sounds like she had a good time, got a bit of work meetings in there as well.  Double bonus, in fact her work paid for her to fly up for the meetings etc she had and then were kind enough to let her stay for the weekend and fly back on the Sunday.  She stayed at Ben and Di's who, funnily enough, came down to Napier on the Saturday for a family reunion.  On Sunday the kids and I went out to pick Sarah up from the airport and then we drove straight out to Havelock North to meet up with Ben and Di!  The kids played on the super neat playground out there for an hour, then we went to Giant Brewery (second time in as many weeks) for lunch which was lovely, then we came back to ours for the afternoon before waving goodbye to Ben and Di (and their kids too) late that afternoon.  Quite a whirlwind weekend but good fun.

That's enough for this update.  I'll write another one tomorrow, if I remember!

Tim
