Crazy Cart, Bike Ride, Poor Sarah
Sarah is STILL sick and blowing snot. Poor thing - she's really having a terrible time with whatever it is she's got. She's been laid up in bed pretty much since Tuesday with Theo. She went out on Friday with the kids for a few small adventures, but that's been about it. Oh and today we went to Anderson Park so Theo could ride his Crazy Kart in "High Speed" mode instead of Slow like it's been in at home. High Speed was lots of fun for him, he had a great time though it's a bit hard for him to steer, he doesn't quite get the concept of steering it yet I don't think so trying to do it at pace wasn't a great idea. Only one little crash though, didn't hurt himself and got straight back on.
I took them for a bike ride this morning, Biscuit came with so he could go for a run which is what I was doing. I run while the kids ride. It's good fun, but Theo came off 1km into it and bashed himself pretty badly. "My Peener really hurts!" he kept reporting, I think he based the potatoes quite badly, probaly not the meat. Anyway after a few minutes of cuddles and encouragement he got back on and we rode down the bike path to the Pirami Cafe, had a cake and a drink and turned around and went back home. Biscuit loved it, the kids had a good time. Then we went to Anderson Park as a family which as above, was good fun for Theo with his Crazy Kart. Beth took her scooter but was more interested in her kite which we also took. Here's a few photos I took.
I made the kids lunch yesterday and I was going to dye their milkshakes Green but decided against it when I remembered how good they are at knocking drinks over. But I left the dye out on the bench and Sarah noticed it later and said I should make them Green Pancakes for breakfast, so I did. I don't think Beth found it funny, Theo did. Eventually she saw the humour and asked for Blue ones next weekend.
Not much else - made a plonker of myself at work on Monday by forgetting I was on Annual Leave that day, turning up to work and then going "Oh wait I'm on leave today" and heading back home to look after Theo. Doh. But work's going good. I'm still loving it, so much fun, so much stuff to learn etc.
Beth reported a few weekends ago that she's not interested in the Mitre 10 playground anymore. I died a little inside. She's growing up so fast. But she also still brings Charlie out in the morning for a pat and picks up tiny rocks and gives them names etc. Shes getting really good at cheerleading, today she was doing cartwheels all over the show at Anderson Park. She's really enjoyed going to the cheerleading Holiday programme too I think, she always comes out with a smile on her face.
I finally got a call on my Garfield Phone last week. Holly said I sounded like I was really really sick. I guess 40+ year old capacitors inside it have probably leaked a bit etc, and it's plugged into a VOIP PSTN service, not a proper copper one. Still, I got to talk on it properly to someone - that was neat. He's still there, eyes closed, ready for action.
I better go cook some dinner for us!
Oh remembered a few things: Last weekend before Jo Jo's birthday party at the RSA we went into town for the "Snow Day" thing the NCC had setup. It was actually a pretty tiny 20m snow thing and a huge line of people, you had to go one at a time. But we lined up for 45 odd minutes and finally Beth and Theo got a turn. To their credit they both went straight and made it to the end of the run, something not many of the other kids (or even old kids) managed to do. That was pretty neat. Then we went and got some Vinci's pizza.
Then yesterday Sarah was talking to me about replacing the Dyson and how much they cost. I gave up on our Dyson about 2 months ago when the rotating head on the floor brush stopped working. There's no other floor brush for it, so it was pretty much usless. After Sarah talked to me though I thought shit, maybe if I look up a few Youtube videos I can fix it. So I did that, but none of the videos was much use. However I did find the problem! One of the wires that powers the motor had broken. And so I cracked out my soldering iron and soldered it up, put the whole head with it's 15 screws all back together and BOOM! It lives!! I'm so happy, I can now easily clean the floors and all that stuff again. It's so handy to just grab it off the wall, zip around the rooms and the lounge for 5 minutes, scare the shit of Biscuit, then hang it back up to charge. So I'm pretty proud of that achievement.
Also I did cook dinner, it was pretty good. The kids are in bed after another night of playing "Flap Game" with them. Mostly I make Big Bae flap back and forth and scream a lot in a silly voice. The stupid things you do as a parent.
