11th Anniversary, Tooth Fairy Visits Twice, Bike Stand

Submitted by TiM on

I bought Theo a kickstand for his bike yesterday  $15 from the bike shop, nothing really.  But he's been banging on about a kickstand for weeks, every since he got good at riding his bike it's just something he's desperately wanted.  I think it's because my bike, Beth's bike and Sarah's bike all have one, he felt like he was missing out having to lie his bike down.   Anyway, he's super happy now.  Yesterday morning Sarah went fishing with Adrian on Blackfoot, Beth went to Church with Grandma so it was just Theo and I.  I took him to Anderson Park and we did a few laps around, he rode his bike to get practise and I jogged behind him to encourage him and for exercise.  He doesn't need much encouragement now though, he's really good and he really enjoys it.  Still very, very wobbly but Sarah reminded me that Beth was the same when she started to ride her bike.  I don't remember, but it makes sense.

It's Feijoa season.  We don't have the BIG Feijoa tree in the backyard anymore.  Beth sadly asked me yesterday "Why did we chop the tree down already if the pool isn't here?" which was a good question.  Doesn't matter though, we still have 6 odd trees down the back dumping heaps of fruit.  None of it seems super massive this year which is a bit sad, but oh well.  We've still bumped the prices up to $3 a bad, or 2 bags for $5.  Seems to be going well.  This year I got the kids to pick them up, though in reality Beth helped, Theo mostly talked about all the ones he was going to pickup without actually picking them up, and then I picked up 80% of them.  Still it's good fun, they're having a great ol' time finding all the different ones and talking about their shapes and how bruised they are etc etc.  We sold them on Saturday and Sunday and I think made about $60 which isn't too bad.

It was our 11th wedding anniversary last Saturday. We were originally going to go to Crowded House on the Saturday night, but it was delayed of course due to Covid.  So we went up to Taupo instead on Friday (my non-work day) and stayed the night at the Hilton.  Had a good time, went up, had lunch, had a swim in the pool, went to dinner.  Got up on Saturday morning and had breakfast, went to the Glass Blowing place again.  We went last time we were all in Taupo but it was a bit more fun without the kids, we went into the artist room and watched a man blow lots of little glass vases.  He was a really nice guy, very chatty, showed us what he was doing etc.  It's really interesting.

Beth's lost two teeth in about 4 days!  The second tooth that popped out she wrote a letter asking for the Tooth Fairy to draw a picture of where she lived.  So Sarah did that last night, Beth noticed this morning that the Fairy has used her Gel pens to do the picture.  But she seemed pretty happy with the note the Fairy left, so that was nice.  Theo meanwhile has still only lost two and that's it.

That's about all that's been happening really!  Still waiting on a bit of other news that hasn't come through yet, but I'm sure it'll be here any day NOW.
