Halloween 2020
It was Halloween on Saturday night and the kids had a great time! During the week Sarah had helped them make Bats from old toilet rolls and spooky lanterns from old milk bottles. Beth had a Ghost sheet and Granny had sent some presents over during the week, one of which was a skeleton costume for Theo which he loved and was his Halloween costume. About 4:30pm the first few trick or treaters starting showing up, I guess you have to get in early these day to ensure you get treats? After that it was a steady stream of children visiting, we'd put ballons on the letterbox with spooky faces so that people knew we were part of it. And far out there were so many people, I had to go out again about 5:30pm to get more candy, that's how busy it was! Once I got back and the kids had eaten their dinner we went off down the street. The kids loved it, having a great time with their little bags and collecting candy. Might have to give them a bit more practise next year as lady asked "I'll have a trick!" and they had no idea what to do. She was just having some fun. After 45 minutes of walking the streets and visting most of the houses on the Facebook Residents list, we headed back home to enjoy the loot. When we got back all the candy we had was gone, we had to put up a note for the kids saying we're really sorry but we're out! Two loads of candy got gobbled up.
Went to Tennis again on Saturday morning and once again both children loved it, didn't really stop to look at me or ask for snacks or anything. And when we left both of them told me again how much they loved it, that it was fun etc. Beth did basketball during the week and was awarded Player of the Day, well done Beth. And Theo had his first practise of Touch Rugby during the week, Sarah said that he really loved that too. I should be able to go and see him play this Friday, so that'll be good!
Planted 3 watermellows, the Fingerlime I bought for Sarah and a new passionfruit plant yesterday. The vegetable garden is in such a state, but I'm slowly getting on top of it. The other cool thing I bought yeseterday from Mitre10 is an automatic watering thing. It connects to the tap and can turn it on/off every X hours and water for Y minutes. I've got it set to water for 1 hour every 12 hours, which is great! Means I don't have to worry about the watermellows not getting enough water, even if we go away. That was the problem last year when we went to Australia, when we got back they were basically dead because there'd been no rain. Not this year!
Did a couple of runs last week, meant to go this morning but I had a ratty night's sleep. Trying to get fit and less fat though. I got lazy and fat, and the lady at the dairy thinking I was Theo's grandson make me think I better get back into a shape a bit better! And have a haircut too, which I've done.
Sold all the pavers from around the pool, sold the old bike seat that used to go on the back of Sarah's bike that Beth went in a few times. Still a few more things to sell. Getting a new water filter this week. Oh got the lawnmower repaired too, it was having a major wobble malfunction with its base plate, something was loose. Not a good thing to have a loose disc spinning at a million miles an hour! Sarah bought some new wicker chair things that the kids spend most of the weekend in, pretending they were a nest each. They loved it.
Yesterday we went to the Farmer's market in the morning too, had a nice time there. It was a beautiful sunny morning, the kids had a great time. Lots of colouring in etc.
Well I better get back to work.
