Bee Sting MKII, Watch This, Splash Planet

Submitted by TiM on

Right so let's wind back to Friday the 24th Jan.  I was at work and I've been thinking for a while I wanted to get a new watch to replace my old Garmin.  It's been a faithful friend that Garmin Vivoactive 3m, it did all my Marathon training with me and then did the Marathon with me too.  It's a beast.  But it's also showing its age, its heart rate sensor is all cracked (apparently a common fault) and hell, everyone likes new toys.  Plus Sarah had recently got a new Garmin Venu so I was jealous.  Anyway I logged onto the Rebel Sports website and they were having 25% off ALL Garmin watches.  Off the one I wanted, that was $300 off.  So I headed into Rebel and they didn't have it, but I went to Noel Leeming who did, and who also do Price Match.  So I got it from them, they weren't too happy about Price Match but I sure as shit was!  Grinning, in fact.  So I got myself a new Fenix 6 Pro which I totally love and is awesome.  My old Garmin was good, this one is better than great. Maps, Music, pay-on-wrist, you name it.

Friday night I met up with Sarah and the kids at Clive Square for something a bit different, the Fiesta in the Square I think it was called.  Basically a couple of food trucks and a live band, but it was a bit of fun and something different for a Friday night.  The kids seemed to enjoy it too, there was face painting.

Saturday we got up and went to brave Splash Planet on a super hot day.  Far out it was busy.  We got there at 9:30 to line up for the 10am opening and already the queue was down to the road.  By the time we got it, it was snaking way way down the street.  It was mental.  We got in and found a decent spot, then had a great time.  The kids loved it, the lazy river was a favourite.  Theo didn't even want a mat to float on, he loved swimming in it himself.  We went down the waterslide on a double raft a bunch of times, that was great fun and the kids really enjoyed that.  Overall it was a great day, towards the end we bumped into Emma (Beth's friend) and her family, that was nice for Beth.  I took them on the train ride around the park, fun fun etc.  We got icecreams, went to Tiny town etc.  It was a really fun day, just SO many people there, people everywhere.  But you never felt too crowded in.

Sunday we just took it easy, Holly and Age came over and the kids climbed trees etc for a bit.  I went for a run into town with my new watch to pickup my bike, I'm certainly not as fit as I was just before I did my Marathon, I've really got to pull some finger.

Last week was a work week, fun fun, nothing too exiciting to report.  It was Beth's last week of School holidays. I took Beth on Monday to see the Dr about her ongoing cough, he gave her antibiotics and told me to get her a chest X-Ray.  So fast forward to Saturday, I took Theo to swimming.  This term they're on different times which is a PITA, have to remember next term to get in quick so we can get a booking at the same time.  Theo did a great job, there's two Theo's in his class and he's been called BIG Theo.  I think he's happy with that.  Sarah took Beth to her swimming lesson, then I took her to get her X-Ray.

Saturday night we went down to Ahuriri after dinner to get an Icecream, there was a lady blowing giant bubbles down there for the kids entertainment so Beth and Theo had a great time running around chasing them.

Sunday we took them to the Bike Park to have some fun riding bikes, but sadly Beth got a bee caught in her hair which then stung her ear.  She was a lot braver this time, I mean utter howling (I didn't hear it, I was playing with Biscuit a bit further down the park) but Sarah says it was a super scream.  Anyway that was really the end of Bike Park, so we went home after that and just took it easy for the rest of the day, played a bit more in the new Kathmandu Shade tent thing we bought.  It was so hot though that the iPad shut itself off, causing Beth to huff back inside being a crabby bag.

And this week has been back to School for Beth, starting her new Year two classes! She's so grown up little sausage, it's hard to believe.  We did a bit of training with her for her try-athalon which is coming up in the next couple of weeks last night.  She enjoyed it, so that's good.

Far out it's been SO hot the last week.  Ugh. It's mental.  The aircon has been on 24/7.

And that's about that!  Dad seems to have recovered well from his Hernia operation, I'm going to give him a ring when I ride home tonight though.  The end!!!
