New Phone Waiting / Beth's Eye / Theo and the Frying Pan / Sarah Auckland
Another two weeks roll by. It's the last week of school, Kindy and work! At least until Christmas is over, done and dusted, and a new year begins.
Theo came to find me last night and tell me he was having a bad dream, wanted me to hop into bed with him. So I jumped in next to him and gave him a cuddle and he said "Ow Daddy my shoulder still hurts really bad" and then told me a story about how at Kindy someone at thrown something at him and they'd tried to find and ice pack but they couldn't so they got a bag of frozen peas etc. Such a random story to tell me at 5am in the morning instead of Friday after it'd happened, or any other time over the weekend! Anyway he seems fine, just a big nasty bruise on his shoulder. He told us this morning that it was a frying pan that was thrown at him!!
Yesterday morning we went over to Peter and Mary's and the kids had a great swim in the pool. I'm so glad Theo's confidence is back in the pool, he's gone from being timid to get in ~3 months ago. Anyway we had a nice time there, I helped Peter put up that shade sail thing which is always a fun mission!
Thursday night Sarah flew up to Auckland for the Mediaworks Christmas party on the Friday night. Friday was just going to be the normal school run, but Beth had a bad case of conjunctivitis in her eye, so I had to bring her into work and plonk her on the couch with the iPad. A bit bad, but it worked really welll. Mary came and picked her up at 11am and took her for the day which was nice, so I was able to work without too much interruption. She was really good while she was here, she only came and asked a few questions and wanted to go to the toilet etc.
I got Dad to buy me a new phone last week, thanks Dad. I mean I have to pay for it, but Dad's picked it up already. Google Pixel 4XL. They don't sell them in NZ and to try and import one will cost stupid amounts. I only got Dad to buy one now in case they sell out, or al the stores are closed when when I'm in Aussie. Looking forward to having a new phone, even though the old original Pixel is still going strong.
Been a few things stolen around JTown of late, Colin over the road has had a couple of big heavy concrete statues stolen. It just happens to coincide with a bunch of Chorus contractors digging up the street to put fibre in. Everyone's all nervous etc, and we're back to locking up all the sheds every night, making sure the scooter is chained up etc etc.
I have high cholesterol apparently. Though reading the test thingy it says I was supposed to have fasted, but I wasn't told that, so didn't. Anyway, I need to lose more weight I guess! Dr said the cholesterol was a "wee bit high" which didn't seem like "You are going to die" so no worries there. Hell it was only an email to tell me, so I think I'll be OK for a bit.
The garden is going great, lots of Strawberries, the watermelon plants are throwing out long vines. They took ages to do anything, but suddenly there's vines all over the show. Got a full bucket of nice Strawberries too yesterday. So happy with that effort. Shame about all the weeds in all the other garden beds, I don't know how to combat them aside from weed spray which I don't like to put on the beds we're then going to eat from.
I can't think of too much else that's happened in the last couple of weeks. Last weekend we went to a party at Peter and Marys to meet some Japanese friends of theirs. The kids swam in the pool and everyone kept freaking out that Theo was going to drown himself, even though we explained that he's fine and likes to swim and can go from one side to the other. I do understand the tendancy to want to save him, it does seem odd that someone so small can swim so well, but he's fine. Plus Beth was in there with him helping. After the party we did a quick drive by to look at some of the Christmas lights that are up around the place. Exciting.
Tuesday last week I flew down to Wellington and back in a day, mostly just to go and say thanks to Todd in the form of a Christmas lunch. Was nice to get down to see them, plus to see my Wellington workmates too.
I think that's about it, it's Monday, the last week of work, there's still lots of work to do but it's hard to get super motivated. Beth's school report comes home tonight hopefully, so it'll be interesting to see how she's done this year.
