Dog Bandage, Hot Weather, 10K

Submitted by TiM on

Another week passes by!  Had a good weekend last weekend, got a lot of gardening done, did a 10km run on Saturday morning.  By the time the kids had got out of bed and I'd fed them breakfast, it was about 9am, so I didn't get out running until about 9:30am or so.  Far out it was super hot and sunny.  Still I managed to do 10km without stopping which was a nice achievement. Then we took them to their swimming lessons, where they're both doing well.  It's great we've managed to get them both swimming at the same times, it's only 30 minutes out of the Saturday.

Then I had to take Biscuit back to the vet.  I guess I need to back up a bit here, sometime last week, I think Wednesday night, we noticed one of his claws was all munted and bloody.  So we took him to the vet on the Thursday and he got knocked out and they pulled the claw and cleaned it and my god $300 worth of dog treatments he ended up like this.  Anyway Friday night he started to really bite/pull at the fluff and it all came out.  Stupid dog.  So took him back to get it redressed, but they said it was actually healed up OK and he didn't need the bandage anymore.

Once Biscuit was suitably repaired, we drove out to Hastings to go to KMart.  We'd promise the kids they could buy some new toys, but only with the money they had saved up in their piggybanks.   We walked around the store and Beth fell in love with a stuffed sheep thing.  Didn't want a puzzle, didn't want a hatchimal.  Only this lamb thing.  However, the lamb thing's pricetag was $20 and Beth only had $20 in her piggybank, so we explained to her that buying the lamb would use all her money.  This caused a huge scene. "I really *sob* want the lamb *sob* but I don't want to *huge sob* spend all my money *mega sob*".  We explained over and over that that's how things worked, but she was still super upset.  Anyway then we scanned the lamb at the price-checker thing in the store and bugger us if the lamb wasn't ~75% off.  So it only cost her $7 or so.  She was ecstatic now, and firmly believes that the price-checker thingy is her new God because it meant she didn't have to spend all her money to buy the lamb.  Theo meanwhile picked himself a Transformer (officially pronounced by Theo as a trans-sporm-er) which he was happy with.

So off we went, everyone happy with their toys.  We went to Brave to get some lunch and I filled up some flaggons, meanwhile Theo's terrible bit of plastic Transformer broke.  So after leaving Brave we took it back and got him a different one, slightly better though a bit more expensive.

Saturday night we went over to Holly and Adrian's for a nice BBQ dinner, the kids spent half the time in their pool splashing and swimming and having a great time.

Sunday morning was woken up early by an earthquake that really shook the house, it seemed like it was getting stronger and stronger when it just suddenly died away.  Phew.  We didn't do too much else on Sunday, just a lot of garden work really, cut back all the branches on the hedges etc etc.

And then it was just a normal week really, school and work and kindy.  This morning I'm going to go and do Parkrun to see if I can't beat my old 5km time, then it's swimming then people are coming over for dinner!
